MEN'S GOLF TEAM WINS HISTORIC 1ST MATCH

BOSTON, Mass. -- The Emmanuel Men's Golf Team, playing in the program's inaugural season, split in a non-conference tri-match, which the Saints hosted at Franklin Park's William J. Devine Golf Course on Friday afternoon. The top four scorers for the Saints totaled a 393, defeating Newbury College (397), but falling to Daniel Webster College (367). Junior Nicholas Cyrus (Rockland, Mass.) was the low scorer for Emmanuel, shooting a 42 on the front nine and a 47 on the back for a 89 on the day.
Individually, Cyrus finished as the 5th low scorer. Leading the way was Newbury's John McNeice and Daniel Webster's Mike Fuller, who each shot an 83. McNeice's 37 on the front nine was the lowest 9-hole score for the day. Daniel Webster's K.P. Krupinski and Matt King both shot 88s to help pace the Eagles.
Emmanuel's second low scorer was junior Patrick Dillon (Bedford, N.H.) with a 93. Finishing third for the Saints was sophomore captain Eric Spanbauer (Niagara Falls, N.Y.), who shot a 105. The fourth scorer for Emmanuel was freshman Matt Wessels (Otisville, Mass.) with a 106. Senior Steve Bentley (Plympton, Mass.) shot a 110 on the day.
The Saints will compete again on Wednesday, September 30th, in Elms College's Invitational Tournament at Chicopee Country Club in Chicopee, Mass.
