MEN’S GOLF TABBED EIGHTH IN GNAC CHAMPIONSHIP POLL
WINTHROP, Mass. – Emmanuel College received 20 total votes to finish eighth overall in the 2015 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Pre-Championship Coaches’ Poll, it was announced by the conference office earlier today.
WINTHROP, Mass. – Emmanuel College received 20 total votes to finish eighth overall in the 2015 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men's Golf Pre-Championship Coaches' Poll, it was announced by the conference office earlier today.
Rhode Island College topped the poll with 78 total points and seven first place votes followed by Saint Joseph's College (ME) with 62 points and one first place vote. Johnson & Wales University was just behind them in third with 61 points followed by UMass Dartmouth in fourth with 59 points and the final first place vote.
Southern Maine landed in the middle of the poll with 50 points in fifth place followed by Worcester State University with 36 points. Despite the Saints topping Suffolk University in head to head play last week, the Rams finished in seventh with 29 points above Emmanuel in eighth with 20. In their first year of the golf program, Albertus Magnus College rounded out the poll in ninth with 10 total points.
The Saints will look to senior Matteo Pocobene (Malden, Mass.) to lead the way at this weekend's GNAC Championship being played at Allendale Country Club. Pocobene has been the low scorer in every match he's played in this year.
Emmanuel will tee-off in the GNAC Championship on Saturday, October 17.
