MEN’S GOLF WINS EMMANUEL INVITATIONAL BY SEVEN STROKES
HYDE PARK, Mass. - Sophomore Colin Cordero (Bolton, Mass.) carded a 77 for to lead the Emmanuel College men's golf team to a team score of 351 to top the field at the Emmanuel Invitational quad-match played at the par 70 George Wright Golf Course. Mitchell College wasn't far off the pace with a team score of 358 to finish second while Suffolk University combined for a 362 for a third place finish. Daniel Webster College rounded out the field with a 364.

Mitchell College wasn't far off the pace with a team score of 358 to finish second while Suffolk University combined for a 362 for a third place finish. Daniel Webster College rounded out the field with a 364.
Cordero put together an impressive round, carding a 39 on the front side (+4) before finishing with a 38 on the back (+3). On his round, the sophomore recorded eight pars and three birdies. The 77 is a new collegiate career-low for the Bolton, Conn native. Freshman David Byrne (Newport ,R.I.) was the next low round for the Saints with an 86 out of the No. 2 spot. Senior Cameron Dillon (Braintree, Mass.) and freshman Anthony Springthorpe (Swampscott, Mass.) both fired a 94 to round of the top four scores for Emmanuel.
Finishing second, Mitchell received an outstanding individual performance by Freshman Matt Shea (Waterford, Conn.) who carded a 76, good for medalist honors on the afternoon. Shea posted a 39 on the front and 37 on the back to lead the way. Classmate Andrew Abbott (Walpole, Mass.) recorded an 80 for the Mariners in the No. 2 spot.
Sophomore Marcos Baistrocchi (Buenos Aires, Argentina) posted the low round for Suffolk University, registering an 88 from the No. 3 spot while junior Patrick Hambleton (Methuen, Mass.) was one stroke behind with an 89.
Daniel Webster sophomore Nasi Nikopolous (Burlington, Mass.) carded a team-low 85 to pace the Eagles out of the No. 1 spot.
Emmanuel is back in action tomorrow when they compete in the Westfield State Invitational at Takoa Country Club in Westfield, Mass. Suffolk returns to the links this weekend at the ECAC Championship at The Ranch Golf Club in Southwick, Mass. Both Mitchell and Daniel Webster are idle until Oct. 14 when Mitchell hosts their own invitational in which the Eagles will compete in.
