GROTON, Conn. – The Emmanuel College Men's Golf Team topped Daniel Webster College and Mitchell College on Wednesday afternoon in a tri-match hosted by the Mitchell Mariners at Shennecossett Golf Course. Junior captain Matteo Pocobene (Malden, Mass.) tied the Emmanuel program-record low score with his round of 74 on the day.
Pocobene's 74 tied the record of current teammate Brett Burmann (Bridgewater, Conn.), who carded a 74 back in 2012 at the University of Southern Maine Fall Classic.
The Saints posted a team score of 324 and had all five of their golfers finish in the top six of the individual standings. Pocobene earned individual medalist honors with his low round on the day, posting a three-over par 74 to lead the field of 15 golfers. Classmate Cameron Dillon (Braintree, Mass.) was four shots back of Pocobene with a 78 and finished as runner-up.
