2013 MEN'S GOLF SEASON IN REVIEW
BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Golf Men’s Golf program wrapped up its fifth season of varsity competition, enjoying some of the best scores in the program’s brief history. The Saints competed in a total of eight events including three two-day tournaments which were the University of Southern Maine Fall Classic , the 2013 ECAC DIII Championship and the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship.

The Saints competed in a total of eight events including three two-day tournaments which were the University of Southern Maine Fall Classic , the 2013 ECAC DIII Championship and the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship.
EC kicked off the year posting a 337 in a tri-match against Newbury and Mitchell College, finishing second in the action ahead of Mitchell. Sophomore Matteo Pocobene (Malden, Mass.) earned medalist honors after firing off a 78 (40-38) at Putterham Meadows Golf Course in Brookline, Mass.).
The Saints returned to Putterham for their second match in head-to-head action against Newbury later that week. Emmanuel was able to improve its team score to 324 to defeat the host Nighthawks as all five golfers posted rounds under 87. Sophomore P.J. Levesque (Norton, Mass.) led the way with a 79 while Pocobene was right behind him with an 80. Junior Brett Burmann (Bridgewater, Conn.) shot an 82 while sophomore Mikey Rague (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) rounded out the top four scores with an 83.
On September 25, EC hosted their annual quad match against Suffolk, Newbury and Daniel Webster at the William J. Devine Golf Course in Dorchester, Mass. Their team score of 341 best Daniel Webster and ranked third on the afternoon as Burmann was the low Saint with an 80 on his card.
Emmanuel struggled at the Westover Country Club, shooting their highest team score of the year (362) at the Elms College Blazers Invitational. Burmann's 81 was the squad's low round as they would finish 13th in the 16 team field.
The Saints got back on track the following weekend at the USM Fall Classic, combining to shoot a 655 at the two day event. During the day one action, Pocobene fired off a 79 while Burmann carded an 81 to pace EC to a team total of 329. On day two, Pocobene registered a career-low 75 which was just one stroke away from the Emmanuel single-round record while Rague shot an 80 to propel the Saints to a 326 on the afternoon.
EC finished 11th of 14 programs at the 2013 ECAC DIII Championship but did enjoy the largest improvement from Day 1 to Day 2 scores in the field. With tough conditions, the Saints were disappointed with a Day 1 score of 356 as sophomore Cameron Dillion () was the low round with an 84. Day 2 was an entirely different story as the Saints fired off a 332 to improve 24 strokes as a team. Burmann led the charge with a 79 followed by Pocobene's 81.
At the GNAC Championship, Emmanuel finished tied for sixth overall, their highest finish in the event's history with a two-day total of 653. The Saints were consistent in the event, shooting a 326 the first day followed by a 327 the second. Rague notched a season-low 78 in his first round of the action while Burmann was consistent with a 79 and 77 to shoot 156 and finish just outside the top 10 in the field.
The Saints bid farewell to their lone senior in Ben Taylor (Newbury, Mass.). A four-year player and two-time captain of the team, Taylor graduates holding the record for career matches-played with 16.
