MEN’S GOLF NEARS SEASON-BEST AT USM CLASSIC
GORHAM, Maine – The Emmanuel College Men’s Golf Team competed in the University of Southern Maine’s Fall Classic on Sunday and Monday. The two-day tournament was hosted by the Huskies on the par 72 course at Gorham Country Club.

The Saints finished just five strokes off their season-best on day-one of the tourney, carding a 329 and two strokes off on day-two, when they combined for a 326. Emmanuel's combined 655 over the two days placed the Saints in 9th place overall out of the ten competing programs.
University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth took the team honors with a 609, while Endicott College and Husson University each finished just one and two strokes back with a 610 and 611, respectively.
Emmanuel was led by sophomore Matteo Pocobene (Malden, Mass.), who carded a combined 153, shooting a 79 on day one and a 75 on day two and finishing in 11th place overall. Classmate Mikey Rague (Old Orchard Beach, Me.) finished 2nd for the Saints and 36th overall with his combined 164 (84-80).
Junior Brett Burmann (Bridgewater, Conn.) notched a 166 (81-85) to finish just behind Rague in 37th place. Junior captain Michael Burgess (Milton, Mass.) turned in a 172 with a pair of 86s over the two days to score fourth for the Saints. Sophomore Cameron Dillon (Braintree, Mass.) rounded out the Emmanuel scorecards with a two-day total of 178 (88-90).
The Emmanuel squad will return to the links this Saturday, when they compete for the first time ever in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championship, which will be played at The Crumpin-Fox Club in Bernardston, Mass.
