Bio

Bruce Seals joined the Emmanuel Men's Basketball staff in the Fall of 2011 after spending 17 years as an Assistant Coach at GNAC rival Emerson College. Coach Seals brings extensive coaching and playing experience to his position as an Assistant Coach with the Saints.

Seals did his undergraduate work at Xavier University of Louisiana. He was named to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All-Star Team and an NAIA All-American in 1973. Seals has been inducted to both the Louisiana State Hall of Fame (1999) and to the Sugar Bowl Basketball Hall of Fame (1995).

Following college, Seals was a first round draft pick and played two seasons (1973-75) with the ABA's Utah Stars and three more (1975-78) with the NBA's Seattle SuperSonics. In his rookie year with Utah, Seals averaged 7.0 points per game to help the Stars to the Western Division title, followed by a trip to the ABA finals, where they lost to the New York Nets.  Upon his move to the NBA in 1975, Seals tallied a pair of double-figure scoring seasons (1975-76 and 1976-77) with the Sonics.  Seals also spent six years playing professionally in the European Basketball League in Milan, Italy.

Outside of Emmanuel, Coach Seals works full time as the Athletic Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester, Massachusetts, a position he has held for over 20 years. Seals' daughter, Denitra, is the Head Coach for the Saints Women's Volleyball Team. Coach Seals resides in Ashland, Mass.
