Cross Country Runs Well At GNAC Championship; Women Finish Third
STANDISH, Maine - Both the Emmanuel College men's and women's cross country programs had solid showings at the 2022 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) championships on Saturday afternoon as the Lady Saints put together a third place team finish, finishing one spot higher than the GNAC Championship Coaches' Poll prediction while the men posted a sixth place showing, in line with where they fell in the Championship Coaches' Poll.

THE LEAD – Both the Emmanuel College men's and women's cross country programs had solid showings at the 2022 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) championships on Saturday afternoon as the Lady Saints put together a third place team finish, finishing one spot higher than the GNAC Championship Coaches' Poll prediction while the men posted a sixth place showing, in line with where they fell in the Championship Coaches' Poll.
EMMANUEL HIGHLIGHTS
- Senior Elizabeth Cameron (Raynham, Mass.) was the top Saint in the women's race with a 6th place finish in the 6k race with a time of 25:39 to earn GNAC First Team All-Confernce honors.
- Junior Emma Krantz (Manchester, N.H.) was next with an 11th place showing at 28:05 while placed senior Mia Rowell (Candia, N.H.) was not far behind in 15th place with a time of 28:36. to earn GNAC Second Team All-Conference honors.
- On the men's side, first-year Mikel Lacroix (Cumberland, R.I.) turned in a Top-20 performance, placing 17th with a time of 31:42 in the 8k for a new PR.
- First-year Adam Von-Maszewski (Westborough, Mass.) and junior captain Kyle Antoine (Brockton, Mass.) came in together in 47th and 48th place finishes with times of 36:26, good for PR's for both.
WINNING PERFORMANCES
The Colby-Sawyer College women and Norwich University men were crowned team champions on Saturday afternoon at the 2022 GNAC Cross Country Championships, hosted on campus by Saint Joseph's College of Maine.
The Chargers women were led by senior Shannon O'Connell, who won the women's 6K with a time of 24:11.8, en route to earning GNAC Runner of the Year honors. CSC sophomore Samantha Carus finished second overall with a time of 24:28.4, followed by Regis College sisters Ashleigh Kelley and Erin Kelley in third and fourth place, respectively.
In the men's 8K, grad student Troy Hendricks from the host Monks, who was named the GNAC Man of the Year back in July, crossed the finish line first with a time of 29:42.4, followed closely behind by teammate Devin Abbott (29:44.1).
En route to the team victory, Norwich saw Matt Webster, Judson Nash, and Chance Boulware finish 3-4-5 overall, with Nash taking home GNAC Rookie of the Year accolades as the top freshman finisher on Saturday afternoon.
For the women, Regis' Madelyn Klein finished seventh overall (25:56.1) to take home the 2022 GNAC Women's Rookie of the Year Award.
Next up for GNAC competitors will be the NCAA Division III Regionals in two weeks.
