SAINTS SET TO COMPETE IN DIVISION III NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS

Thirteen Emmanuel College student-athletes will represent the Saints Track & Field Program in the Division III New England Championships this weekend. The events will be held over the course of two days at Tufts University in Medford, Mass. Emmanuel's thirteen participants achieved qualifying marks earlier this season in order to compete in the championship meet this Friday and Saturday.
Emmanuel junior Curtis Abram (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) kicks thing off for the Saints on Friday afternoon (4/30). Abram is scheduled to compete in the javelin at 2:30pm on Friday. He is Emmanuel's current record-holder in this event and will be looking to better his longest throw of 163'11".
Three Emmanuel athletes will begin competition at 10:00am on Saturday (5/1). Junior Irene Limlengco (Brookline, Mass.) and freshman Ariana Nelson (Coto De Caza, Calif.) will compete in the high jump, while sophomore Shannon McCabe (Charlestown, R.I.) will compete in the hurdle trials.
Emmanuel's sprinters will take to the track at 10:30am, as freshman Nathalie Victoria (Brockton, Mass.) will run the 100 meters. At 11:45am Victoria will team up with Limlengco, Nacy Brandao (Dorchester, Mass.) and Katasi Kulubya (Anaheim, Calif.) for the 4 x 100 meter relay.
In the early afternoon, Kulubya will compete in her second event of the day. She will run the 400 meter race at 1:00pm, along with sophomore Brittany Sorice (Dover, N.H.). Two Emmanuel men will also compete in this event. Sophomore Andrew Heath (Stanford, Conn.) and junior Ben Cleveland (Auburn, Me.) will run the 1-lap race.
Eight Emmanuel athletes will then wrap up the day with the men's and women's 4 x 400 meter relays at 4:15pm. Kulubya, Sorice, Julie Young (Derry, N.H.), and Victoria will be looking to improve on their school-record time of 4:14.74. Cleveland, Heath, Wesley Cowles (Hebron, Conn.) and Jordan Coulombe (Saco, Me.) will team up for the 4-lap relay on the men's side.
