Student-Athlete of the Week
April 27, 2010
Emmanuel College's Student-Athlete of the Week is Irene Limlengco. Limlengco is a junior standout on both the Indoor and Outdoor Women's Track & Field Teams. A native of Brookline, Massachusetts, Limlengco competes in jumps and mid-distance races for the Saints. She currently holds the outdoor program records in the 100 meters and 200 meters, and she is a part of the record-setting 4x100 meter relay team. Limlengco is also the third leg of the record-holding indoor 4x400 meter relay team.
Limlengco set all four of her program records this academic year. Limlengco posted a 13.19 time in the 100 meters at Northeastern University's Spring Open on March 20th. She then teamed up with Nathalie Victoria, Nacy Brandao, and Katasi Kulubya to combine for a 51.95 record-breaking time in the 4x100 meter relay race at the same meet. Limlengco went on to set the Emmanuel program record in the 200 meters with a time of 27.39 on April 25th at Brown University's Springtime Invitational.
Limlengco has qualified for the New England Division III Championships in three different events, the high jump, the 100 meters, and the 4x100 meter relay. She will compete on Saturday, May 1st, at Tufts University. Limlengco opens with the high jump at 10am. The 100 meter trials will begin at 10:30am and the 4x100 meter relay starts at 11:45am.
