TRACK TEAMS WRAP OUTDOOR SEASON WITH A BANG AT BROWN

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Emmanuel College Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Teams competed in their final meet of the season at Brown University's Springtime Invitational on Sunday afternoon. Competing among several Division I and II teams, the Saints thrived and closed out their season with a bang. It was sunny and hot, but the weather only served as a catalyst to the record-setting performances that were to come that afternoon.
Senior Cathryn Lariviere (Windham, N.H.) set an Emmanuel program record in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:04.00, as well as in the 800 meters with a time of 2:33.18. Freshman Katasi Kulubya (Anaheim, Calif.) followed Lariviere's lead, setting a school record in the 100 meters with a time of 13.55 and in the 200 meters with a time of 27.71. Freshman Marissa LaFlamme (Newburyport, Mass.) set a school record in the 3K with a time of 13:04.80, while freshman Brittany Sorice (Dover, N.H.) also set an Emmanuel record in the 400 meters, running 63.49. The women's 4x400 meter relay team consisting of sophomore Kelsey Fitzpatrick (Milford, Mass.), Kulubya, sophomore Irene Limlengco (Brookline, Mass.) and Sorice set a school record with a cumulative time of 4:16.98.
On the men's side, freshman Stephen Armstrong (Revere, Mass.) set a school record in the 3K, running 9:58.42. Freshman Chris Conway (Norton, Mass.) placed fourth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.53 and tenth in the 100 meters, running 11.55. Rookie sophomore Curtis Abram (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) set a new program record in the javelin, throwing a distance of 143'6". In his third attempt, Abram nearly threw 160', but officials only measured distances above 160' after the first attempt. Junior Dan D'Amato (Huntington, Mass.) ran his best 400 meters of the season, placing tenth with a time of 51.72. Sophomore Ben Cleveland (Auburn, Maine) placed eleventh in the 200 meters with a time of 23.12. The men's 4x400 meter rely team consisting of D'Amato, freshman Wesley Cowles (Hebron, Conn.), sophomore Andrew Heath (Stanford, Conn.) and Cleveland set a program record, placing fourth with a time of 3:29.09.
Qualifying athletes will continue the season, competing in the New England Division III Championships on Saturday (5/2) at Springfield College in Springfield, Mass. For complete results of the Brown Springtime Invitational, go to:
