TRACK & FIELD TEAMS WRAP REGULAR SEASON WITH RECORD-BREAKING DAY AT BROWN INVITATIONAL

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Emmanuel College Men's and Women's Track & Field Teams competed in their final meet of the regular season on Sunday afternoon at Brown University's Invitational. Emmanuel student-athletes recorded 19 personal bests and broke eight program records. In all, the Saints posted six New England Division III Championship qualifying performances and an individual Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship qualifier.
Senior sprinter and team captain Andrew Heath (Stamford, Conn.) worked hard throughout the season to continue to better his time in the 400 meters. On Sunday, Heath finished 3rd in his race, running a personal best time of 49.82, and qualifying for the ECACs. He is now one of four Emmanuel athletes that will compete in two weeks at the ECAC Championships.
Freshman Lauren Atkins (Saugus, Mass.) qualified for the Division III New Englands in her fourth event this spring. The rookie ran a school-record time of 26.71 in the 200 meters. Both Katasi Kulubya and Alicia Mizell (Brockton, Mass.) also posted personal bests, finishing behind Atkins, in this event.
The two women's relay teams had an impressive day, as both teams set new program records and qualified for the New Englands. The 4 x 100 meter team of Nathalie Victoria (Brockton, Mass.), Irene Limlengco (Brookline, Mass.), Kulubya and Atkins finished 5th with the school record time of 51.18. Kulubya, Victoria and Limlengco then added Julia Young to the mix to run the third leg of the 4 x 400 meter relay. The team placed 3rd with the school record and qualifying time of 4:13.78.
The men's 4 x 400 team featured a 52.21 lead off leg by Heath. Freshman sensation Nathan Bruno (Lenox, Mass.), classmate Eric Donnelly (Halifax, Mass.) and junior Wesley Cowles (Hebron, Conn.) helped the team to a 2nd place finish with a time of 3:30.08. Bruno also finished 3rd in his individual 400 meter hurdle event with a time of 56.22. On the women's side, Meaghan Mauer (South Hadley, Mass.) set a new record with her time of 75.66 in the 400 meter hurdles. Junior Stephen Armstrong (Revere, Mass.) set a new record in the 5000 meters with his personal best of 16:32.01.
In the field, freshman Kelly Ulf (Lunenburg, Mass.) had a huge day, bettering both her New England Division III qualifying leaps in the triple jump and in the high jump. Ulf placed 5th in the triple jump with a program record leap of 34'1.50". Placing just behind her in 6th was classmate Kaitlyn Murphy (Ludlow, Mass.), who also qualified for New Englands, with a personal best 33'1" jump. Ulf also placed 5th in the high jump clearing 5'1". Tying Ulf in 5th place for the high jump was Limlengco with a 5'1" Division III New England qualifying jump. Junior men's team captain Jordan Coulombe (Saco, Me.) finished in 3rd with a high jump of 5'9.25".
Junior team captain Gregory Brown (Norton, Mass.) bettered his program record in the hammer by over a foot with a throw of 103'7". Classmate Kathleen King (South Easton, Mass.) also P.R.ed, bettering her school record in the hammer by more than two feet with a 95'10" throw. King went on to qualify for New Englands in the discus with a throw of 106'8".
With the regular season now complete, the Saints have accrued the program's largest group of spring New England Division III and ECAC Championship qualifiers. Those among the history-making qualifying group are listed below.
