SAINTS TEAR UP THE TRACK AT FITCHBURG'S SPRING INVITE

FITCHBURG, Mass. - The Emmanuel College Men's and Women's Track & Field Teams returned to Fitchburg State College on Saturday to compete in the Falcons' Spring Invite. The weather fortunately cooperated, an improvement from the previous three weeks. The Saints came out with six new program records, some qualifiers, and several personal bests.
Sophomore Ben Cleveland (Auburn, Maine) placed third in the 400 meters with a record setting time of 50.29 and qualified for the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships. He is presently ranked 15th in New England for the 400 meters. Cleveland also placed fourth in the 200 meters, running 23.10. Senior Brian Anderson (Akron, Ohio) also set a school record when he placed fifth in the discus, throwing 105' 8". Sophomore Alex Lucier (Northbridge, Mass.) placed sixth with his long jump performance, jumping 20"4.25". Freshman Jordan Coulombe (Saco, Maine) placed fourth in the high jump, clearing 5'10.75". He also ran his personal best in the 110-meter hurdles with a sixth place time of 17.32. Freshman Maurizio Turco (Revere, Mass.) ran a smart 1500 meter race, finishing with a personal best time of 4:33.59.
Sophomore Curtis Abram (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) and junior Doug Gillum (West Boylston, Mass.) threw their personal bests in the javelin with distances of 135' 8" and 126', respectively. The men's 4 x 400 meter rely team consisting of junior Dan D'Amato (Huntington, Mass.), freshman Wesley Cowles (Hebron, Conn.), sophomore Andrew Heath (Stanford, Conn.), and Cleveland placed fourth with a New England Division III qualifying time of 3:33.41. The relay team also came very close to breaking the Emmanuel program record.
Senior Cathryn Lariviere (Windham, N.H.) won the 5K and set a school record with an ECAC qualifying time of 18:41.46. Freshman Katasi Kulubya (Anaheim, Calif.) ran a record-setting 100 meters with a time of 13.74, while sophomore Irene Limlengco (Brookline, Mass.) ran her personal best of 13.78. Freshman Kathleen King (South Easton, Mass.) placed third in the discus, throwing here personal best of 99'7". Sophomore Erin Daley (Easton, Mass.) placed seventh in the javelin, throwing a distance of 81'11".
Freshman Marissa LaFlamme (Newburyport, Mass.) ran her personal best in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:31.32. Freshman Brittany Sorice (Dover, N.H.) placed fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 63.99. She also placed 8th in the 200 meters, running her personal best of 29.26. The women's 4 x 400 meter relay team consisting of sophomore Kelsey Fitzpatrick (Milford, Mass.), Kulubya, sophomore Megan Clary (Cumberland, R.I.) and Limlengco won with a record-setting cumulative time of 4:22.93 and qualified for the New England Division III Championships. The women's 4 x 800 meter relay team consisting of Sorice, sophomore Victoria Cole (Carver, Mass.), LaFlamme and junior Maureen Kellett set a new school record, placing fourth with a time of 11:05.86.
