THROWERS AND SPRINTERS LEAD THE WAY AT MIT SPRING INVITE

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Emmanuel College Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Teams competed at the MIT Spring Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Despite cold and rainy conditions, two program records fell and one additional athlete qualified for the New England Division III Championships. This was one of the Saints' last regular season meets of the year.
Junior Curtis Abram (San Luis Obispo, CA) broke the school record in the javelin and qualified for the New England Division III Championships with a second place throw of 163'10". Abram's qualifying throw came after just three days of practice, as this was his first competition this season. Classmate Thomas Ryan Maher (Gales Ferry, CT) set a new program record in the shot put with a throw of 34'5.75".
Sophomore Gregory Brown (Norton, MA) threw personal bests in the shot put and discus, while freshman Kyle Ford-Withrow (Boston, MA) improved in both the discus and the javelin. Freshman Taylor Brown (Wakefield, MA) threw her farthest in the discus and junior Katherine Fahey (Attleboro, MA) improved in the javelin.
Juniors Ben Cleveland (Auburn, ME) and Andrew Heath (Stanford, CT) took first and second in the 400 meters, respectively. For the women's 400 meters, sophomore Katasi Kulubya (Anaheim, CA) placed second, while sophomore Brittany Sorice (Dover, NH) took third and freshman Julie Young (Derry, NH) was fourth with a personal best of 65.07.
Junior Irene Limlengco (Brookline, MA) finished first in the high jump with a personal best jump of 5'1". Limlengco also placed fourth in the 200 meters, followed personal best times by Sorice in fifth with 28.42, sophomore Shannon McCabe (Charlestown, RI) in sixth with 28.92, and Young in seventh with 29.08. Freshman James Ferdenzi (Holliston, MA) took second place in the 100 meters with a time of 11.74.
Sophomore Maurizio Turco (Revere, MA) ran a personal best in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:26.56 and also improved in the 800 meters. Freshman Meaghan Reddy (Warwick, RI) returned from injury and established a personal record in the 1500 meters. Freshman Laura McNulty (Attleboro, MA) ran her fastest in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.89.
