SAINTS SHINE AT UMASS-DARTMOUTH'S CORSAIR CLASSIC

The Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Teams competed at the 4th Annual Corsair Classic at UMass-Dartmouth on Saturday. The early part of the meet was met with sunny skies, but the inevitable afternoon rain and thunder forced a cancellation mid-way through the meet. Only a handful of Emmanuel athletes had an opportunity to compete.
The men's 4x100 meter relay team consisting of senior Mike Thurnauer, (Reading, MA), sophomore Robert Littleton (Plymouth, MA), freshman Ryan Maher (Gales Ferry, CT) and senior Rob Allen (Plymouth, MA) improved their school record from last weekend and placed 3rd with a time of 44.72. Freshman Alex Lucier (Northbridge, MA) placed 2nd in the long jump, while junior Philip Meagher (Amherst, MA) placed 5th in the javelin.
Sophomore Sarah Soldano (Bethel, CT) placed 2nd in the women's long jump and high jump. The women's 4x100 meter relay team consisting of all freshmen, including Ashley Adamson (Scituate, MA), Megan Clary (Cumberland, RI), Alison Lynch (Pawtucket, RI) and Kelsey Fitzpatrick (Milford, MA), placed third overall. Sophomore Amanda Strout (East Longmeadow, MA) established a new school record for the woman's 3000 meter steeplechase and senior Emily McCaffrey (East Greenwich, RI) placed fifth in the 1500 meter race.
The Men's and Women's Track & Field Teams will compete again this Saturday (4/19) at Connecticut College's Silfen Invitational. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11am.
