EMMANUEL TRACK & FIELD TEAMS PERFORM WELL AT CORSAIR CLASSIC

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. - The Emmanuel College Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field teams competed at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth's Corsair Classic on Saturday afternoon. Despite extremely windy conditions, two more program records fell and a duo of athletes qualified for the New England Division III Championships.
Emmanuel sophomore Shannon McCabe (Charlestown, RI) broke the school record in the 100 meter hurdles with a fifth place time of 16.88, qualifying for the New England Division III Championships. Sophomore Katasi Kulubya (Anaheim, CA) finished second in the 800 meters and broke her own program record with a time of 2.28.99. Freshman Nathalie Victoria (Brockton, MA) ran the 100 meter dash trials in 13.31 to qualify for the New England Division III Championships. She went on to finish eighth in the finals with a time of 13.44.
Freshmen Laura McNulty (Attleboro, MA) and Ariana Nelson (Coto de Caza, CA) finished second and third, respectively, in the high jump. Sophomore Brittany Sorice (Dover, NH) placed third in the 400 meters with a time of 63.33 and Kathleen King (South Easton, MA) scored fifth place in the discus. McCabe and freshman Julie Young (Derry, NH) improved in the 200 meters, while freshman Jacqueline Lytle (North Reading, MA) ran a personal best in the 100 meter dash.
On the men's side, juniors Ben Cleveland (Auburn, ME) and Andrew Heath (Stanford, CT) finished second and third in the 400 meters with respective times of 51.51 and 51.54. Heath also finished third in the 200 meters with a personal best time of 23.31. Junior Thomas Ryan Maher (Gales Ferry, CT) finished seventh in the 110 meter hurdles and threw a personal best in the shot put.
Sophomore Stephen Armstrong (Revere, MA) and freshman Alen Smajic (Revere, MA) placed second and fifth in the 5k, respectively. Sophomore Gregory Brown (Norton, MA) improved in the discus with a throw of 99'8 and freshman Mark Dougherty (Methuen, MA) established a personal best in the javelin, reaching 117'9. Sophomore Jordan Coulombe (Saco, Me.) and junior Alex Lucier (Northbridge, Mass.) placed 5th and 8th in the high jump, respectively.
