EMMANUEL ATHLETES SET 36 PERSONAL BESTS, BREAK 6 SCHOOL RECORDS

WESTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel College Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field teams traveled to Regis College on Saturday for the Regis Pride Classic. Throughout this outdoor season, the team has been rapidly improving on a personal level and is also on pace to send a record number of athletes to the New England Division-III Championships. This past weekend, a total of 36 personal bests were set, a high for the entire year across all three running seasons, 6 new school records were set, and 2 more tickets were punched to the New England Division III Championships.
The Saints put up a strong showing in every event last weekend, from the veteran athletes to spring newcomers. In the 100 meter dash, freshman Nyeem Cameron (Mattapan, Mass.) improved his personal best for the third time this season, knocking his time down to 12.58. In the 800 meters, classmate Nathan Bruno (Lenox, Mass.) qualified for NE D-IIIs with a 1:57.20 time, as well as posting a new school record performance.
Captain Stephen Armstrong (Revere, Mass.) continued his stellar junior year with another personal best in the 3000 meters--a time of 9:45.60. Junior Abdi Ibrahim (East Boston, Mass.) ran the lead off leg of the record-setting men's 4x800 meter relay team. Ibrahim teamed up with Andrew Heath (Stamford, Conn.), Ben Cleveland (Auburn, Me.) and Bruno for an Emmanuel-record time of 8:35.25.
For the women's program, junior Shannon McCabe (Charlestown, R.I.) continued her dominance in the hurdles, competing in the 400 meter hurdles event. Her time of 76.40 earned her a school record, and right behind her, freshman Meaghan Mauer (South Hadley, Mass.) finished in 76.98. Sophomore Joslyn DelSignore (Taunton, Mass.) set an Emmanuel program-record in the 3000 meters with her time of 11:48.89.
The women's 4x100 meter relay team was in top form Saturday as all four ran sub-13.30 times. Nathalie Victoria (Brockton, Mass.) led off, handing the baton to Irene Limlengco (Brookline, Mass.), McCabe and Katasi Kulubya (Anaheim, Calif.). Their overall time of 52.79 vaulted them into the NE D-III Championships.
In the field, junior Kathleen King (South Easton, Mass.) etched her name into the record books for the hammer throw, with a distance of 91'8". Freshman Katelyn Murphy (Ludlow, Mass.) impressed in the triple jump, clearing 32'11.25"--.50" short of Championship qualifying.
In the men's javelin, senior Curtis Abram (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) and freshman David Weiss threw 150'7" and 150'6" respectively, bulking up the Saints on-the-rise throwing program.
Next Saturday (4/16), Emmanuel will travel across the Charles River for the MIT Invitational in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The meet with begin at 12:00pm.
