TRACK TEAMS RUN DOWN RECORDS AT FITCHBURG STATE

Fitchburg, MA - The Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Teams competed at Fitchburg State's Sheehan Memorial Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Saints made out well, posting a series of new records and personal bests.
Sophomore Sarah Soldano (Bethel, CT) broke her own school record in the long jump (16'1.50"), placing second and qualifying for the New England Division III Championship. She also placed second in the high jump (4'11''). Megan Reichel (Mashpee, MA) placed 5th in the high jump (4'9") and sixth in the triple jump (26'4.25").
Junior Cat Lariviere (Windham, NH) improved on last week's performance in the 1500 meters and set a new school record with her time of 5:06.25. Junior Christine Gaspar (Attleboro, MA) finished 4th in the 5k. Freshman Ashley Adamson (Scituate, MA) ran two personal bests in the 100 meter hurdles and the 200 meter run. The women's 4 X 400 meter relay team, consisting of freshman Alison Lynch (Pawtucket, RI), freshman Megan Clary (Cumberland, RI), senior Emily McCaffrey (East Greenwich, RI) and junior Cat Lariviere (Windham, NH), placed sixth with their 4:41.94 time.
Freshman Ryan Maher (Gales Ferry, CT) ran his personal best in the 110 meter hurdles, placing third overall with a time of 16.05. Senior Mike Thurnauer placed fifth in the 400 meter hurdles. The men's 4 X 100 meter relay team, consisting of Thurnauer, Maher, sophomore Rob Littleton (Plymouth, MA), and senior Rob Allen (Plymouth, MA) placed fourth, breaking the school record with a time of 44.97. Freshman Alex Lucier (Northbridge, MA) also jumped his personal best (19'11.75") in the long jump and placed 6th. Sophomore Pat Welton (Derby, CT) achieved his personal best in the long jump as well, with a 17'6.75" leap.
The Saints will travel to Dartmouth, MA this Saturday (4/12) to compete in the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth's invitational meet.
