TRACK TEAMS COMPETE AT TUFTS SNOWFLAKE CLASSIC

Medford, MA - The Emmanuel Men's and Women's Track & Field Teams competed in the Tufts University Snowflake Classic on Saturday afternoon. The meet truly lived up to its name as the teams competed in unseasonably cold conditions. Top performances were hard to come by for any competitor.
Junior Christine Gaspar (Attleboro, MA) was able to finish 2nd in the 10k race with a time of 42:32.89. Sophomore Ashley Adamson (Scituate, MA) came away with her personal best in the 100-meter hurdles. Freshman Alison Lynch (Pawtucket, RI) improved on her outdoor personal best in the 400meters. The 4 x 400m relay team of Lynch, Kelsey Fitzpatrick (Milford, MA), Keelyn Blanchfield (East Thetford, VT), and Cathryn Lariviere (Windham, NH) finished 7th overall with a time of 4:45.09. Sophomores Sarah Soldano (Bethel, CT) and Megan Reichel (Mashpee, MA) placed 7th and 8th respectively in the high jump.
The cold weather hampered several runners on the on the men's side who were nursing hamstring injuries. Senior Rob Allen (Plymouth, MA) ran another strong race, placing 6th in the 400-meters with a time of 52.97. Freshman John Hieber (Peabody, MA) improved on his outdoor 400-meter time, while sophomore Kevin Ly (Portland, ME) broke his personal record in the discus. Freshman Alex Lucier (Northbridge, MA) established his personal best for the outdoor 200-meter race.

The Saints will be back in action this Saturday (4/5) at Fitchburg State College's Sheehan Memorial Invitational. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10am.
