TRACK & FIELD TEAMS BRAVE COLD WEATHER AT JERRY GRAVEL CLASSIC

WESTFIELD, Mass. - The Emmanuel Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Teams competed at the Jerry Gravel Classic at Westfield State College on Saturday afternoon. The Saints endured the chilly temperatures to post several new program records, qualifying performances, and personal bests among a field of 18 competing colleges.
Emmanuel sophomore Jordan Coulombe (Saco, ME) tied the program record in the high jump with a seventh place finish, leaping 6'0". Sophomore Katasi Kulubya (Anaheim, CA) established a new program record in the 800 meters with a time of 2:30.36. Senior captain Doug Gillum (West Boylston, MA) threw 80'0" in the hammer to improve his own school record.
Sophomore Brittany Sorice (Dover, NH) finished fourth in the 400 meters and qualified for the New England Division III Championships, running a personal best time of 62.29. Sorice also ran a personal best time of 2:32.39 in the 800 meters. Freshman Ariana Nelson (Coto de Caza, CA) cleared 5'0" for third place in the high jump and qualified for the New England Division III Championships. The men's 4 X 400 meter relay team of junior Andrew Heath (Standford, CT), sophomore Wesley Cowles (Hebron, CT), Coulombe, and junior Ben Cleveland (Auburn, ME) finished sixth and qualified for the New England Division III Championships.
Junior Irene Limlengco (Brookline, MA) finished seventh in the 100 meters, running 13.56. Heath finished fifth in the 400 meters with a personal best time of 51.77. Sophomore Shannon McCabe (Charlestown, RI) finished sixth in the 100 meter hurdles and junior Thomas Ryan Maher (Gales Ferry, CT) finished eighth in the 110 meter hurdles. The women's 4 X 400 meter relay team, consisting of Kulubya, freshman Nathalie Victoria (Brockton, MA), junior captain Alison Lynch (Pawtucket, RI), and Sorice finished fourth with a time of 4:24.58.
Freshman Joslyn DelSignore (Taunton, MA) ran personal best races in the 1500 meters and 800 meters with respective times of 5:39.67 and 2:49.75. Sophomore Maurizio Turco (Revere, MA) also improved his times in the same races, running 4:28.35 in the 1500 meters and 2:14.62 in the 800 meters. Cleveland improved in the 800 meters with a time of 2:04.20.
Sophomore Stephanie Gomes (Ludlow, MA) ran a personal best time in the 5k, running the race in 22:09.31. Sophomore Patrick Froass (Oneida, NY) ran 12.59 in the 100 meters to improve his time. Freshman Alen Smajic established a personal record in the 10k, while McCabe and freshman Jacqueline Lytle (North Reading, MA) ran personal bests in the 200 meters.
Sophomore Gregory Brown (Norton, MA) threw his farthest in the shot put with a distance of 30'6.5". Freshmen Taylor Brown (Wakefield MA) and Caitlyn Dacosta (North Reading, MA) threw personal bests in the discus, while junior Katherine Fahey (Attleboro, MA) established a personal record in the javelin.
