TRACK & FIELD WRAPS REGULAR SEASON AT REGIS PRIDE CLASSIC
WESTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Teams competed in their final meet of the regular season on Sunday afternoon at Regis College. It was a solid day all around for the Saints competing in Regis’ “Pride Classic,” as Emmanuel athletes came away with victories in three events, as well as 16 top-five finishes. Four EC performances qualified for post-season competition and one Saint set a new Emmanuel College program-record.
WESTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Men's and Women's Track & Field Teams competed in their final meet of the regular season on Sunday afternoon at Regis College. It was a solid day all around for the Saints competing in Regis' "Pride Classic," as Emmanuel athletes came away with victories in three events, as well as 16 top-five finishes. Four EC performances qualified for post-season competition and one Saint set a new Emmanuel College program-record.
Sophomore Ashley Brooks (Danvers, Mass.) led the Saints with her 1st place record-setting high jump. Brooks leaped 5'3" to best any prior Emmanuel athlete and qualified for the ECAC Championships on May 14th and 15th with her jump.
Rookie Brian Uram (Westford, Mass.) captured a win in the men's 110mH. Uram's time of 16.52 bested the field, placing him just out in front of senior Ryan Thomas (Wakefield, R.I.), who finished in 3rd place with a time of 17.58. Thomas took home 2nd place in the men's 400mH, with a time of 57.15. Thomas' finish was only second to EC alum Nate Bruno, who won the race in 54.73.
Junior Zoe Pierce-Dickens (Franklin, Vt.) earned 2nd place in the women's 400m with her time of 61.77. Freshman Nicole Varca (Wethersfield, Conn.) snagged 5th place in 69.08. Pierce-Dickens also earned a 4th place finish in the 200m with her time of 27.46.
On the men's side, freshman Francisco Tavares (Boston, Mass.) ran a personal best time in his 400m event. Tavares' time of 50.64 earned his 2nd place overall and bettered his Division III New England Championship qualifying position.
Sophomore sprinter Micaela Fraccalossi (Plymouth, Mass.) crossed the line 3rd in the women's 100m with her time of 13.71. Junior Chloe Pangonis (Keene, N.H.) also earned a 3rd place finish with her personal record time of 2:26.68 in the women's 800m.
The sophomore tandem of Mellyn Costello (Canton, Mass.) and Katherine Zombik (Holyoke, Mass.) posted another great day on the hurdles. Costello rolled to a PR time of 16.82 to snag 3rd place in the 100mH, while Zombik captured 5th place in 17.84.
Sophomore Ian Chamenko (Beacon Falls, Conn.) took care of business in the men's steeplechase, finishing in a 3rd place time of 10:24.20. Junior Corey Hebert (Acushnet, Mass.) picked up 6th place in 10:57.90.
The Saints' relay teams were solid on the day as well. Emmanuel's 4x800m women's relay team picked up a 1st place victory. The team of Chloe Egan (Burlington, Vt.), Pangonis, Megan Rockett (Fall River, Mass.) and Julie Roberts (Williamsburg, Mass.) finished in 10:40.38 to improve on their Division III New England qualifying time.
Also earning a spot on the podium was Emmanuel's second women's 4x800m team. The squad, featuring four freshmen in Varca, Haylee Krenzer (Haverhill, Mass.), Jacqueline Mosko (Woburn, Mass.) and Emily Knowlton (Grafton, Mass.), snagged 3rd place in a time of 11:34.55.
The men's 4x400m relay team of Uram, Chamenko, Hebert and Craig Schoaf (Raynham, Mass.) was able to qualify for the Division III New England Championships. The team finished in 4th place with their combined time of 3:46.20.

Qualifying Saints will now spend this week prepping for the New England Championships, set to begin this Friday, May 1st. MIT will host the two-day event. The Saints will send qualifying athletes to represent Emmanuel at the Championships in the following events:
Men's 110mH (Friday – 4:50 PM)
Women's High Jump (Saturday – 10:00 AM)
4x100m relay (Saturday – 11:20 AM)
400m (Saturday – 12:30 PM)
400mH (Saturday – 1:40 PM)
4x800m relay (Saturday – 3:15 PM)
4x400m relay (Saturday – 4:00 PM)
