EMMANUEL TRACK QUALIFIERS TO COMPETE IN NEW ENGLAND DIVISION III CHAMPIONSHIPS
Sixteen Emmanuel student-athletes have qualified for post-season competition in their respective track & field events. They are set to compete this weekend at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, which is the host site for the Men’s and Women’s New England Division III Championships. Competition kicks off on Thursday afternoon, May 2, and continues throughout the day on Saturday, May 4.

Four different Emmanuel relay teams qualified for the championships, as well as four athletes who will be competing in individual events. Leading the way for the Saints is junior Nathan Bruno (Lenox, Mass.), who will be running in the men's 400 meter hurdle event. Bruno holds the Emmanuel program-record with a time of 53.39, which he set this past Sunday at Regis College. Bruno's time ranks him 1st in New England and 9thnationally.
Also competing in the 400mH is sophomore Ryan Thomas (Wakefield, R.I.). Thomas' best time is 54.85 and he is among the nation's top 40 in this event. The 400mH event begins at 2:40 PM on Saturday. Thomas has also qualified in the men's 110 meter hurdles with his time of 16.08. He will race in this event on Saturday morning at 10:00 AM.
Sophomore Adam Julien (New Orleans, La.) is a New England Division III qualifier in the 400 meters. He qualified this year with his time of 49.81, but Julien also owns Emmanuel's program record in this event, which he set as a rookie with his time of 48.31. The men's 400 meter championship is on Saturday afternoon at 1:45 PM.
Rounding out Emmanuel's individual qualifiers is senior Nathalie Victoria (Brockton, Mass.). In the final meet of the regular season, Victoria launched the javelin 105'5" at Regis College to qualify for the post-season championship. Victoria is Emmanuel's only athlete competing on Friday and the only Saints female competing in an individual event at the Championships in Maine. Her event begins at 2:00 PM.
The men's and women's 4x800 meter relay teams will gear up for their races at 4:25 PM on Saturday. Running for the Saints women's team are Molly Metivier(Keene, N.H.), Chloe Egan (Burlington, Vt.), Julie Young (Derry, N.H.) and Meaghan Mauer (South Hadley, Mass.). Team captain Joslyn DelSignore (Taunton, Mass.) will travel as an alternate for that squad. The team qualified with their top time of 10:16.45, set last weekend at the Regis Invitational.
The men's 4x 800 meter relay team of Chris Baker (Holden, Mass.), Patrick Callan (Pawling, N.Y.), Tom Tallo (Lincoln, R.I.) and David Allen (Hull, Mass.) have qualified with their combined time of 8:19.24.
Emmanuel's 4x400 meter relay teams will run at 4:45 PM on Saturday. Thomas, Bruno and Julien will have just a couple hours to rest from their individual events before joining junior Ben Perdue (West Springfield, Mass.) for their relay. The squad is Emmanuel's best, setting the program-record at this championship last year (3:19.73). The team will now look to improve on their top 2013 time of 3:21.87.
The women's 4x400 meter relay team features Victoria running the lead-off leg, along with Martina Benassi (North Haven, Conn.), Zoe-Pierce Dickens (Franklin, Vt.) and Alicia Mizell (Brockton, Mass.). The team's top time in 2013 is 4:18.
