INDOOR TRACK & FIELD TEAMS OPEN SEASON AT WESLEYAN INVITATIONAL

Middletown, Conn. - The Emmanuel College Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Teams ran their season opener at the Wesleyan University Invitational on Saturday. A number of strong and promising performances graced the track with the help of several newcomers to the team. New school records were established, including an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) qualification.
Freshman Christopher Conway (Norton, MA) placed fourth in the 55 meter hurdles and qualified for the ECAC Championships with a time of 8.12. Conway also was the lead-leg of the record breaking 4 X 200 meter relay team, which consisted of sophomore Andrew Heath (Stanford, CT), junior Dan D'Amato (Huntington, MA) and freshman Nick O'Brien (Watertown, CT). The fairly young team placed third with a time of 1:39.11, breaking a program record set nearly a year ago. Freshman Stephen Armstrong (Revere, MA) placed fourth in the 5K, setting a new record of 16:49.85. Freshman Jordan Coulombe (Saco, ME) and newcomer Heath placed first and second, respectively, in the high jump, tying the record of 5' 8.75''. Sophomore Ben Cleveland (Auburn, ME) placed third in the 500 meters, only tenths of a second away from breaking the school record. Freshman Wesley Cowles (Hebron, CT) placed third in the 800 meters.
On the women's side, senior Cathryn Lariviere (Windham, NH) won the 3K with a time of 11:11.99. Sophomore Victoria Cole (Carver, MA) also had a first place finish in the mile, running 6:22.59. Senior Christine Gaspar placed second in the 5K with a time of 21:15.76. In the 500 meters, Alison Lynch (Pawtucket, RI) placed 2nd with a personal best of 1:30.08. The 4 X 200 meter relay team, which consisted of freshmen Darlene Charles (Dorchester, MA), Nacy Brandao (Dorchester, MA), sophomore Kelsey Fitzpatrick (Milford, MA) and freshman Hannah Fox (Biddeford, ME) placed third. Sophomore Irene Limlengco (Brookline, MA) placed first in the long jump with a distance of 15' 0.50". She also finished fourth in the high jump, clearing 4' 9''.
