SAINTS POST STRONG PERFORMANCES AT MIT COED INVITATIONAL

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Emmanuel College Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Teams completed their regular season at the MIT Coed Invitational meet on Saturday afternoon. The meet featured three new program records and three qualifying performances for the Saints. All of the qualifyers will compete again next Saturday in Maine at the New England Division III Championships.
Sophomore Wesley Cowles (Hebron, Conn.) broke the school record in the 600 meters, running 1:28.11 and finishing in sixth place. Sophomore Jordan Coulombe (Saco, Maine) broke the school record in the high jump with a fifth place jump of 5'11.25". Coulombe also improved in the long jump, leaping 18'10.50". The women's 4 x 400 meter relay team, consisting of sophomore Katasi Kulubya (Anaheim, Calif.), junior Alison Lynch (Pawtucket, R.I.), junior Irene Limlengco (Brookline, Mass.), and sophomore Brittany Sorice (Dover, N.H.) finished second place and broke the program record with a time of 4:18.87.
Junior Thomas Ryan Maher (Gales Ferry, Conn.) finished sixth place in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.38, qualifying for the New England Division III Championships. Limlengco and senior captain Sarah Soldano (Bethel, Conn.) both cleared 4'11'' in the high jump to qualify for the New England Divison III Championships.
Junior Ben Cleveland (Auburn, Maine) won the 400 meter race with a time of 53.05. He was followed closely by senior Dan D'Amato (Huntington, Mass.) in second place with a time of 53.25. Freshman James Ferdenzi (Holliston, Mass.) placed third in the 55 meters with a time of 6.85. Kulubya finished third in the 400 meters with a time of 62.94, while Sorice ran 1:43.61 in the 600 meters for a fourth place finish.
Sophomore Stephanie Gomes (Ludlow, Mass.) ran a personal best in the 3k with a time of 12:51.39. Junior Maureen Kellett (Westborough, Mass.) lowered her times in the mile and 800 meters, running 6:13.59 and 2:49.66, respectively. Freshman Erina Depina (East Bridgewater, Mass.) also ran strong in the 800 meters with a time of 2:50.09. Freshman Joslyn DelSignore (Taunton, Mass.) ran a smart race and improved her time in the 600 meters, running 1:55.56.
Sophomore Maurizio Turco (Revere, Mass.) ran his best time in the 1000 meters and senior captain Doug Gillum (West Boylston, Mass.) improved once again in the shot put. The women's 200 meter dash featured three personal bests. Limlengco placed third in 28.04, while sophomore Nacy Brandao (Dorchester, Mass.) and freshman Jacqueline Lytle (North Reading, Mass.) ran the same event in personal best times of 29.41 and 30.57, respectively.
The qualifying Saints will compete at the New England Division III Championships next week. The men's meet will be held at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, and the women's meet will be at the University of Southern Maine in Gorham, Maine. For complete results from the MIT Coed Invitational, go to:
