INDOOR TEAMS WRAP REGULAR SEASON WITH QUALIFYING PERFORMANCES

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Emmanuel College Men's and Women's Indoor
Track & Field Teams wrapped up the regular season this weekend
with athletes competing in Boston University's Valentine
Invitational and at the MIT Invitational. The two meets
featured some incredible performances by Emmanuel athletes.
Several Saints used this final weekend of the regular season to
qualify for post-season competition. Over the two days,
Emmanuel athletes saw seven top-three finishes at MIT and six
Division III New England qualifying performances and four ECAC
qualifying performances at BU. The Saints also shattered the
record books with 16 new personal bests and five new Emmanuel
program records over the two-day stretch.
Freshman Adam
Julien (New Orleans, La.) had another phenomenal weekend,
setting program records and qualifying for the Eastern Collegiate
Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships in three different
events. Running at BU on Saturday, Julien set new Emmanuel
marks in the 200m with a time of 22.62 and in the 400m with a time
of 49.66. He also anchored the record-setting 4x400m relay,
which finished in an ECAC qualifying time of 3:25.11.
On the women's side, Katasi Kulubya
(Anaheim, Calif.) and Molly Metivier
(Keene, N.H.) both qualified for the Division III New Englands in
the 400m. Kulubya finished in 61.00, with Metivier coming in
at 62.72 at BU on Friday night. Metivier also ran 3rd in the
200m at MIT on Saturday, finishing in a personal best time of
28.11.
Emmanuel athletes also excelled in the 500m, with sophomore Nathan Bruno
(Lenox, Mass.) running a program-record time of 1:05.15 and
qualifying for ECACs in his second event. Bruno also PRed in
the 200m with a time of 23.60. Junior Julie Young (Derry,
N.H.) ran a 1:23.14 personal best in the 500m for the women.

Thomas (Wakefield, R.I.), Wesley Cowles
(Hebron, Conn.) and Julien teamed up for the 4x400m relay record on
Saturday afternoon. The quartet will now compete at the ECACs
in New York City on March 2nd and 3rd.
The MIT meet featured Emmanuel wins in three different
events. Sophomore Michael Morris
(Stoughton, Mass.) took 1st place in the 3k with a time of
10:15.02. Junior Joslyn
DelSignore (Taunton, Mass.) snagged 1st place in the mile,
finishing in a personal best time of 5:47.23. Freshman Brian Collins
(Hull, Mass.) took home 1st place in the 1000m with a PR time of
2:44.32
Sophomore Ben
Perdue (West Springfield, Mass.) sprinted to his personal
record time of 54:53 and picked up 2nd place in the 400m.
Classmate David
Allen (Hull, Mass.) placed 4th with his best time of
55.10. In the same event on the women's side, senior Brittany Sorice
(Dover, N.H.) picked up 3rd place with a time of 66.10.
Freshman Dana
Murphy (Dennisport, Mass.) ran down 2nd place in the 600m with
a personal best time of 1:30.65. For the women, Lauren Gogel (East
Longmeadow, Mass.) and Yun-Ting Lee
(Cambridge, Mass.) grabbed 4th and 5th place respectively in the
600m, both setting personal records with time of 1:55.88 and
1:59.56.
Perdue and Allen also ran 3rd and 5th place finishes in the
200m. Perdue sprinted in at 24.47, a personal record, while
Allen earned a time of 24.98.
The women's 4x800m relay team set a new Emmanuel record on
Saturday. Young, Meaghan Mauer
(South Hadley, Mass.), Danielle Martin
(York, Me.) and DelSignore finished in a school-record time of
10:47.85.
With the regular season now in the books, only the qualifying
athletes will continue to compete this winter. Emmanuel will
send ten men (two individual qualifiers and three relay teams) to
the New England Division III Championships at Springfield College
this weekend. Emmanuel will send seven women to Smith College to
compete in the D3 New Englands. The Saints had six women
qualify in individual events, which is Emmanuel's largest number of
individual qualifiers in program history. Two female relay
teams will also compete at Smith.
