WINTHROP, Mass. – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) announced Thursday afternoon that the Emmanuel Saints women's indoor track and field coaches have been named the GNAC Women's Indoor Coaching Staff of the Year, as voted on by the five coaches of the GNAC Indoor programs.
Head Coach Dion Gardner-Crichlow, and assistants Jeremiah Bailey, Alexis Daly, Caileigh Blackmer '22, and Kate Elliott '23, become the second indoor coaching staff in program history to be named the Coaching Staff of the Year by the GNAC.
Along with the Coaching Staff of the Year, women's senior Beverly Browne (Amesbury, Mass.) and men's sophomore Pierre Paul Labossiere (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) were named to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
In one of the closest GNAC Women's Indoor Championships in conference history, the Saints women's program managed to hold off charges by Colby-Sawyer and Regis to lift the 2024 GNAC Women's Indoor Championship.
The Saints totaled 135.5 points in the victory, winning by the smallest margin of victory in championship history, beating the Chargers point total of 126 by just 9.5 points. The Pride finished with 117 points as the final results marked the first time the GNAC Women's Indoor Championship had three teams with over 100 points.
Emmanuel has an impressive run in the history of the GNAC Indoor Championships, finishing either first or second in the four total championships to date.
The indoor season transitions to outdoors, starting on March 23 for the Saints, as they compete in the BSU Bears Invitational at Bridgewater State. The Emmanuel women's program will look for their third-straight GNAC Outdoor Championship in late-April.
