INDOOR TRACK RECORDS 14 PERSONAL RECORDS AT SMITH PIONEER INVITATIONAL
NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College indoor track & field squads competed this past weekend at the Smith Pioneer Invitational seeing eight athletes and one relay team place in the top 10 in their respective events while 14 student-athletes recorded new personal bests in their events.

Junior sprinter Francisco Tavares (Boston, Mass.) was the top Emmanuel finisher with a third place showing in the 400m race, clocking in at 52.92 seconds. Sophomore sprinter Jordyn Gonsor (Springfield, Mass.) ran well on the women's side of the 400m event, finishing fifth with a new PR time of 63.44 seconds.
Freshman Erik Brobst (Freeport, Maine), senior Katherine Zombik (Holyoke, Mass.) and the women's 4x200m relay team all grabbed fifth place finishes on the day as Brobst clocked in a PR time of 16:57 in the 5K race, Zombik posted a 10.38 second time in the 60m hurdle while the 4x200 team made up of senior Mellyn Costello (Canton, Mass.), freshman Jackie Schneider (Weymouth, Mass.), Zombik and senior Micaela Fraccalossi (Plymouth, Mass.) recorded a time of 1:57.40.
Costello and Schneider both finished in the top 10 in the long jump as Costello leaped to a sixth place finish with a jump of 15'9'' while Schneider nabbed a new PR for an eighth place finish of 15'2''.
Senior Ashley Brooks (Danvers, Mass.) registered an eighth place jump in the high jump while junior Nicole Varca (Wethersfield, Conn.) grabbed eighth place in the 800m race with a time of 2:33.32.
The Saints return to action next weekend when they head to Gorham, Maine for the University of Southern Maine invite scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM.
