Ian Chamenko Senior Speech - 2017 Emmanuel College Senior Awards Night

Senior men's cross country and indoor/outdoor track & field athlete Ian Chamenko was the 2017 Senior Speaker at this year's Senior Awards Banquet. Chamenko was also one of the winner's of the HALO'S Award given annually to a senior athlete who best represents Emmanuel with Heart, Attitude, Loyalty, Outstanding athlete ability and success as a Student.

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD REPRESENTED AT NEW ENGLAND D-III CHAMPIONSHIPS

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the third straight season, the No. 1 ranked MIT women's indoor track and field team claimed the New England Division III Championship with a win over runner-up Williams College over the weekend. The Engineers had 24 All-New England individual performances and three All-New England relays, along with three victorious individuals and two relays while securing the narrow nine-point overall win (149-140).

TAVARES WINS 400m AT MIT GORDON KELLY INVITATIONAL

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- Junior sprinter Francisco Tavares (Boston, Mass.) won the 400m indoor event this Saturday at the Gordon Kelly Invitational hosted by Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Tavares finished the race in a 51.9 seconds and the competition could not keep pace. Later at the meet, Tavares ran a 23.69 in the 200m placing third.

INDOOR TRACK RACES AT WESLEYAN INVITATIONAL

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Emmanuel College indoor track & field squad competed over the weekend at the Wesleyan University Invitational. The men’s squad saw three individuals place in the top eight while the women’s team saw two runners finish in the top eight.

ATHERTON, VARCA PACE SAINTS AT USM INVITATIONAL

GORHAM, Maine – Sophomore sprinter Cameron Atherton (Rowley, Mass.) set a new school record in the 55m race and junior Nicole Varca (Wethersfield, Conn.) qualified for the New England Division III Championships to lead the Emmanuel College indoor track & field squads Saturday afternoon at the University of Southern Maine Invitational.

BROOKS QUALIFIES FOR NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIP AT TUFTS INVITE

MEFORD, Mass. – Emmanuel College senior jumper Ashley Brooks (Danvers, Mass.) qualified for the New England Division III Championship in the High Jump Saturday afternoon at the Tufts Invitational. Brooks qualified for the championship for the fourth consecutive year with a leap of 4’11.75” to kick off a strong start to the second half of the 2016-17 indoor track & field campaign.

VARCA BREAKS PROGRAM RECORD AT JAY CARISELLA INVITATIONAL

BOSTON, Mass. – Junior middle distance runner Nicole Varca (Wethersfield, Conn.) set a new Emmanuel College Women’s Indoor Track & Field program record this weekend at the 2016 Jay Carisella Invitational hosted by Northeastern University at the Reggie Lewis Center. Varca set a new record in the 1,000m race, clocking in a time of 3:14.41, besting the former time of 3:17.44 set by Meaghan Mauer (’14) in 2014.

GONSOR SETS 500m PROGRAM RECORD AT 5TH ANNUAL UMB OPEN

BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore sprinter Jordyn Gonsor (Springfield, Mass.) set a new program record in the 500 meter indoor event this Saturday at the 5th Annual University of Massachusetts Boston Indoor Open at the Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center. Gonsor posted a third place finish in the race with her record-setting time of 1:22.50 to pace the Saints.
