INDOOR TRACK & FIELD WRAPS REGULAR SEASON AT MIT INVITATIONAL
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Teams competed in the MIT Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Saints picked up four wins on the day and 14 top-five finishes, to go along with three post-season qualifying times. The meet marked the Saints’ final regular season competition for indoor track & field.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Men's and Women's Track & Field Teams competed in the MIT Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Saints picked up four wins on the day and 14 top-five finishes, to go along with three post-season qualifying times. The meet marked the Saints' final regular season competition for indoor track & field.
Senior captain Adam Julien (New Orleans, La.) bested the field in the men's 400 meter race. Julien qualified for the ECAC Championship with his 50.70 winning time in the event. Julien later anchored the men's 4x400m relay team, which took 1st place with their New England Division III Championship qualifying time of 3:29.75. Competing along with Julien on the winning squad were Francisco Tavares (Boston, Mass.), Ryan Thomas (Wakefield, R.I.) and Brian Uram (Westford, Mass.).
Thomas was solid in his individual event as well, racing to a 3rd place finish with a time of 53.71 in the 400m. Uram raced to a personal best time of 9.07 for a 6th place finish in the men's 60mH.
Also posting a win on the day was the Emmanuel men's 4x800m relay team of Thomas Tallo (Lincoln, R.I.), Ian Chamenko (Beacon Falls, Conn.), Craig Schoaf (Raynham, Mass.) and Max Bukowiec (York, Me.). The team turned in a 1st place time of 9:12.36.
Chamenko placed 3rd in his 1000m race, with a time of 2:45.25. Schoaf and Tallo earned fifth place individual finishes. Schoaf nabbed 5th with his 1:35.42 time in the 600m, while Tallo snagged 5th with a 2:04.95 time in the 800m.
On the women's side, junior Zoe Pierce-Dickens (Franklin, Vt.) earned a win in the 400m, crossing the line in 62.99. Senior Martina Benassi (North Haven, Conn.) finished 2nd with her 2:27.95 time in the 800m. Senior captain Chloe Egan (Burlington, Vt.) and junior Chloe Pangonis (Keene, N.H.) placed 5th and 6th, respectively, in the same race with their 2:32 finishes. The time was a personal record for Pangonis in this event. Sophomore Mellyn Costello (Canton, Mass.) turned in a 5th place performance in the 60mH with her time of 9.96.
Egan, Pangonis and Benassi also teamed up with junior captain Julie Roberts (Williamsburg, Mass.) to capture 3rd place in the women's 4x800m relay. Their combined time of 10:53.13 improved on their Division III New England qualifying time. The young squad of Jacqueline Mosko (Woburn, Mass.), Emalee Peterson (Yarmouth Port, Mass.), Sophia Santos (Marion, Mass.) and Emily Knowlton (Grafton, Mass.) finished in 4th place with an 11:54.07 time.
Pierce-Dickens and Costello joined Sara Ciochetti (Watertown, Conn.) and Micaela Fraccalossi (Plymouth, Mass.) for a 1:54.07 time and crossed the line 5th in the women's 4x200m race. Sophomore Ashley Brooks (Danvers, Mass.) followed up her record-setting high jump performance last week with a 5'0.25 jump to notch 6th place at MIT for the Saints.
