SAINTS RUN DOWN RECORDS AT BENYON INVITATIONAL
NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track & Field Teams tore up the track with some excellent individual and relay performances on Saturday afternoon at Smith College’s Benyon Invitational. Sophomore Adam Julien (New Orleans, La.) posted a facility record time in the 400m, while both the Emmanuel men’s and women’s distance medley relays qualified for the New England Division III Championships. Overall, the Emmanuel men placed 5th/5 as a team, while the women placed 7th/9.
NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Teams tore up the track with some excellent individual and relay performances on Saturday afternoon at Smith College's Benyon Invitational. Sophomore Adam Julien (New Orleans, La.) posted a facility record time in the 400m, while both the Emmanuel men's and women's distance medley relays qualified for the New England Division III Championships. Overall, the Emmanuel men placed 5th/5 as a team, while the women placed 7th/9.
Julien collected two wins and two second places finishes on the day. The sophomore sprinter raced to a win in the 400m with his ECAC qualifying time of 50.16. Julien's time now ranks him No.1 in New England and No. 11 nationally in this event. Julien was also part of the men's 4x200m relay, which set a new program record with their 2nd place time of 1:35.95. Julien ran the lead off leg, followed by Ryan Thomas (Wakefield, R.I.), Nyeem Cameron (Mattapan, Mass.) and Ben Perdue (West Springfield, Mass.). Julien landed a 2nd place finish with his 23.52 time in the 200m. He was also part of the winning men's 4x400m relay team, along with Perdue, Nathan Bruno (Lenox, Mass.) and Thomas, who finished in 3:30.22, just three seconds off an ECAC qualification.
The men's distance medley relay took first place and set a new Emmanuel record with their time of 10:46.76. The team of Patrick Callan (Pawling, N.Y.), Thomas, Bruno and Abdi Ibrahim (East Boston, Mass.) is now ranked among the top five in New England. The women's DMR team of Meaghan Mauer (South Hadley), Molly Metivier (Keene, N.H.), Chloe Egan (Burlington, Vt.) and Joslyn DelSignore (Taunton, Mass.) placed 3rd with their qualifying time of 13:48.26.
Amy DeNuzzio (Windham, N.H.) ran her personal best in the mile with a time of 5:58.18. Callan bettered his on PR on the men's side with a one mile time of 4:48.97. Bruno collected 4th and 5th place finishes in the 600m and the 60m hurdles, respectively. Christopher Connelly (Quincy, Mass.) and Corey Hebert (Acushnet, Mass.) raced to 6th and 7th place in the 5K, with both Saints earning their personal best times.
Julie Roberts (Williamsburg, Mass.) took 4th place in the 3K with her personal best time of 11:54.55. Lauren Gogel (East Longmeadow, Mass.) posted a pair of PRs on the day with a time of 30.12 in the 200m and a time of 67.90 in the 400m. Metivier PRed in the 800m with a 7th place time of 2:34.44.
The women's 4x800m relay team of Julie Young (Derry, N.H.), Chloe Pangonis (Keene, N.H.), DeNuzzio and Hailey Loonan (Sandwich, Mass.) nabbed 3rd place with a time of 11:03.40.
Kelly Ulf (Lunenburg, Mass.) led the Emmanuel women in the field with her 2nd, 3rd and 4th place jumps. Ulf snagged 2nd in the long jump (15'8.25"), 3rd in the triple jump (32'5.75") for a personal best and 4th in the high jump (4'9.75").
Senior captain Mitch Moise (Medford, Mass.) recorded a pair of personal best throws for the Emmanuel men in the field. Moise launches the weight throw 34'9" and the shot put 35'5".

The Emmanuel Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Teams will compete next Saturday, January 26th, at the University of Southern Maine Invitational. The meet is scheduled to begin at noon.
