SAINTS COMPETE IN BRANDEIS INVITATIONAL
WALTHAM, Mass. - The Emmanuel College Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Teams competed in Brandeis University's Reggie Poyau Invitational on Friday night. The Saints recorded twenty-seven personal bests on the night, along with two New England Division III Championship qualifying times, an ECAC qualifying performance and one new school record.
WALTHAM, Mass. - The Emmanuel College Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Teams competed in Brandeis University's Reggie Poyau Invitational on Friday night. The Saints recorded twenty-seven personal bests on the night, along with two New England Division III Championship qualifying times, an ECAC qualifying performance and one new school record.
The Saints were led by two 1st place performances from junior Nate Bruno (Lenox, Mass.). Bruno sprinted to a win in the 600m with a time of 1:24.23. He then teamed up with the trio of Ryan Thomas (Wakefield, R.I.), Ben Perdue (West Springfield, Mass.) and Adam Julien (New Orleans, La.) for a win in the men's 4x400 meter relay. This time was an improvement on the relay team's Division III New England qualifying time last week.
The men's 4x800m relay team also turned in a win. Senior captain Abdi Ibrahim (East Boston, Mass.), Patrick Callan (Pawling, N.Y.), Thomas Tallo (Lincoln, R.I.) and Chris Baker (Holden, Mass.) finished in a first place time of 8:26.8. This time set a new Emmanuel program record and qualified the team for the New England Championships.
In addition, Julien and Thomas each ran well in their individual events. Julien turned in a second place finish in the 400m and a fifth place finish in the 200m. Thomas placed fifth in the 400m with a PR of 53.25. Baker raced to a 2nd place finish in the 800m with a PR time of 2:00.47. Sophomore Brian Collins (Hull, Mass.) took 2nd in the 1000m with a time of 2:45.26.
Senior captain Mitch Moise (Medford, Mass.) led the Emmanuel men in the field with consecutive PRs in the shot put (34'7") and weight throw (33'0.25). Overall, the Emmanuel men finished 4th of 8 teams, but first among the competing Division III programs. Click here for Complete Men's Results.
The Emmanuel women recorded PRs on the track and in the field events. Senior captain Nathalie Victoria (Brockton, Mass.) raced to her personal best time in the 55m (7.81), while junior Amy DeNuzzio (Salem, N.H.) set her personal record in the mile (6:06.69).
Junior Molly Metivier (Keene, N.H.) took 6th in the 400m, while sophomore Chloe Egan (Burlington, Vt.) and senior Kat Albitz (Round Rock, Texas) turned in PR performances in the 600m and 800m, respectively.
Freshman Julie Roberts (Williamsburg, Mass.) recorded her best time in the 3k, racing in at 12:21.66, while junior Kelly Ulf (Lunenburg, Mass.) led the Saints in the field with her PR triple jump, landing 32'4.75.
