NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Emmanuel College Women’s Lacrosse Team rebounded from a pair of tough one-goal Great Northeast Athletic Conference losses earlier in the week to roll over Albertus Magnus College, 20-4, on Saturday afternoon. The victory boosts the Saints to 9-3 on the season and 5-3 in league play, while Albertus Magnus drops to 1-12 overall and 0-7 in GNAC action.

The victory boosts the Saints to 9-3 on the season and 5-3 in league play, while Albertus Magnus drops to 1-12 overall and 0-7 in GNAC action.
With the Saints finally getting some seasonable weather to compete in, Emmanuel wasted no time jumping out in front on the host Falcons. The Saints opened the day by rattling off eight unanswered goals over the first 13 minutes of action. The run included three-consecutive man-up scores, all coming within the first two and a half minutes of the game.
Junior Kristen Tuleja (Mansfield, Mass.) continued her impressive scoring streak, netting a game-high five goals, while also dishing out two assists and winning five draw controls to lead the Saints. Senior captain Madison Altwies (Southington, Conn.) scored a season-high four goals, while sophomores Emily Baker (Stratham, N.H.) and Amanda Cook (Saco, Me.) each notched hat-tricks in the win.
Senior captain Sarah Wootten (Berlin, Md.) and junior Sarah Higgins (Groveland, Mass.) recorded five points apiece with each scoring two goals and dishing out three assists. Higgins also tallied five groundballs and won five draw controls. Junior Monica Burdick (Stonington, Conn.) fired in an unassisted marker in the second half of the game to net her fifth goal of the season.
Junior goalie Lauren White (Lynnfield, Mass.) made four saves for the Saints and improved to 9-3 on the season with the win. The Saints dominated the offense throughout the game, firing off 52 shots to just 10 by the Falcons.
Emmanuel will play a pair of home game this week to wrap up the regular season. The Saints will host Nichols College in non-conference action on Monday night and will then host Rivier University in their final GNAC game on Wednesday night. The five seniors (Madison Altwies, Sarah Wootten, Alexia Basile, Emma Mugerwa and Shannen Corrigan ) on the Emmanuel squad will be honored prior to the start of the Rivier game.
