WOMEN'S LACROSSE POWERS PAST NORWICH, 15-5
NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Kristen Tuleja (Mansfield, Mass.) scored four goals, Emily Baker (Stratham, N.H.) netted three, while Sarah Higgins (Groveland, Mass.) and Stephanie Warn (Hanson, Mass.) each had two as the Emmanuel College women’s lacrosse team eased to a 15-5 win over Norwich University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Sabine Field.
NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Kristen Tuleja (Mansfield, Mass.) scored four goals, Emily Baker (Stratham, N.H.) netted three, while Sarah Higgins (Groveland, Mass.) and Stephanie Warn (Hanson, Mass.) each had two as the Emmanuel College women's lacrosse team eased to a 15-5 win over Norwich University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Sabine Field.
Emmanuel (6-1, 3-1 GNAC) scored early and often, rolling out to a 10-0 lead at halftime as Norwich (1-2, 1-2 GNAC) dropped its second straight and three in the last six games in the series to the Saints.
Norwich would get on the board at the 18:43 mark of the second half with sophomore midfielder Chapel Guarnieri (Pepperell, Mass.) scoring the first goal before junior attacker Larissa Gokey (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) tallied the second goal less than four minutes later.
Emmanuel would put up three more goals for the 14-2 lead before senior midfielder Gina Conroy (Amherst, N.H.) recorded the Cadet's third goal unassisted at the 8:03 mark. With less than two minutes remaining in the game, Norwich would find the net two more times from senior Hope Royce (Washington, Vt.) and freshman Teresa Segreti (Salisbury Mills, N.Y.) for the 15-5 decision.
Norwich had 27 turnovers to Emmanuel's 24 but the Saints had twice as many shots at Norwich (28-14), going 3-of-4 from the free position, and won 14 of 22 draws.
Senior Irene Okubo (Chicago, Ill.) recorded four saves in the first half before being replaced by sophomore Courtney Hudson (Burke, Va.), who came up with one save on six shots faced. Emmanuel's Lauren White (Lynnfield, Mass.) posted six saves on 11 shots to earn her sixth win of the season.
Norwich will return to action tomorrow as the Cadets host Southern Vermont College for the 1:00 p.m. non-conference matchup. EC is back on Tuesday, March 31 when they host Framingham State at 7:00 p.m.
