BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory over Anna Maria College Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at the Winsor Courts. With the victory, the Saints improve to 9-6 overall on the year and 6-2 in GNAC action to secure the third seed in the upcoming GNAC tournament. The loss drops the AMCats to 3-10 overall and 3-5 in GNAC play which is good enough for the sixth seed in the GNAC tourney.

The Saints were able to take care of business in doubles action with a convincing 8-1 win in the No. 1 spot by sophomore Alex Hadlock (Framingham, Mass.) and junior Amanda Woznicki (Bristol, Conn.). Freshmen Rachel Smith (Weymouth, Mass.) and Nicole Soucy (Bedford, N.H.) downed the AMC combo of Victoria Minotti (Shelton, Conn.) and Katelyn Edelson (Berlin, Conn.), 8-3 in No. 2 doubles action before Katrina Gaddis and Lexi Rogers took care of business in the No. 3 doubles match, 8-0.

In singles play, Emmanuel did not drop a game in the No. 2, No. 4 and No.6 matches as Woznicki, sophomore Jenni Hewes (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) and sophomore Kelsey Barrasso (Nahant, Mass.) breezed to straight set 6-0, 6-0 wins. Hadlock was able to notch a 6-0, 6-1 win in her No. 1 single match over sophomore Nicole Goudreau (Harrisville, R.I.) while senior Jenna Reid (Lincoln, R.I.) downed Minotti in No. 3 singles play, 6-3, 6-0. Freshman Daniela Tueme (South Easton, Mass.) rounded out the singles matches with a 6-0, 6-1 win in the No. 5 singles contest to give EC the 9-0 sweep in the match.

The win was Emmanuel's third straight victory and second consecutive shutout while the loss was the AMCats fifth in a row.

The Saints will close out the regular season with a non-conference match up on Monday when they head across the river to face Lesley University in Cambridge, MA at 6:30 PM.

With all GNAC matches in the books, Emmanuel will play in next week's GNAC tournament as the third seed and host the Anna Maria who has locked on the sixth seed. The match will be played on Wednesday, Oct. 17 with the start time TBD.
