Val Kiers joined the Emmanuel athletic staff for the 2020 season as an Assistant Coach, primarily working with the pitchers, catchers and offense of the Saints.

She was a member of the 2021 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Coaching Staff of the Year in which the program captured its first GNAC Championship and NCAA tournament berth. 

Kiers graduated from Emmanuel 2016 with a Bachelors of Science in Biology and a concentration in Health Sciences. She was a four-time Dean's list recipient and also received several academic scholarships at Emmanuel including the Academic Achievement Scholarship, Emmanuel Advancement Grant and the Dr. Paul Barber Memorial Scholarship.

With the Saints, Kiers was a four-year member of the softball squad serving primarily as a starting pitcher. Over her career, the Rhode Island native appeared in 46 games with 34 starts and tossed over 222 innings. Kiers recorded 13 wins to go along with a 3.21 ERA while recording 113 strikeouts. She was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week during her sophomore season and earned GNAC Academic All-Conference honors as a sophomore, junior and senior and was also named the team's Unsung Hero in 2016.

Kiers works full-time as a registered pediatric nurse practitioner at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Pediatric Orthopedics.
