O'DWYER NAMED TO GNAC WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Jan. 26, 2011
Emmanuel College's Fiona O'Dwyer was recently named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Weekly Honor Roll. O'Dwyer's recognition came after the sophomore forward led the Saints Women's Basketball Team to a 2-0 week, posting two consecutive career-high performances during the week's games.
O'Dwyer dropped a career-high 23 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in the Saints' win over Rivier College last Tuesday. She then bettered her career-high with 28 points and 11 boards in Saturday's win over Norwich University. O'Dwyer shot 63.9% (23-36) from the floor and 100% (2-2) from three-point range for the week, while also recording 4 blocked shots.
O'Dwyer, a native of Stamford, Connecticut, is one of three Emmanuel players averaging in double figures this season. Currently, O'Dwyer is second on the team in scoring with 12.7 points per game and leads the team in rebounding, grabbing 8.0 boards per game. In a non-conference loss to Tufts University, O'Dwyer recorded her 5th career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
In addition to O'Dwyer, three other GNAC Women's Basketball Players received Honor Roll recognition this week. Joining O'Dwyer on the Honor Roll were: Morgan Wilson (Johnson & Wales), Lindsay Moore (Saint Joseph's-Maine) and Diamond Doe (Saint Joseph-Conn.).
