RAMIREZ-TEJEDA EARNS FIFTH GNAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK ACCOLADE
BOSTON, Mass. – Junior guard Yuleska Ramirez-Tejeda (Cambridge, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the fifth time this semester, it was announced on Monday afternoon by the conference office. This marks the sixth time of her career that she has been named the GNAC Player of the Week.
BOSTON, Mass. – Junior guard Yuleska Ramirez-Tejeda (Cambridge, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the fifth time this semester, it was announced on Monday afternoon by the conference office. This marks the sixth time of her career that she has been named the GNAC Player of the Week.
The junior averaged 17.0 points and 12.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week, double-doubling (15 PTS, 15 REB) in a road blowout over Johnson & Wales University before registering 19 points and 10 boards in just 16 minutes of run on Saturday against Lasell College. She shot 45.5% overall (15-33 FG) and was 4-of-5 from the FT line.
Through 21 games, Ramirez-Tejeda is averaging a team-best 20.8 points and 11.4 rebounds per game for the Saints, ranking second in the GNAC in rebounds and fifth in scoring. She is the only GNAC player that is currently average 20+ points and 10+ rebounds.
Last season with the Saints, Ramirez-Tejeda was named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll six times before earning GNAC Player of the Week Honors on Feb. 5, 2018. She went on to earn GNAC First-Team All-Conference Honors, leading the Saints in scoring and rebounding a year ago.
Emmanuel returns to action on Tuesday, February 4 for an important GNAC showdown against No. 10 Saint Joseph's College (ME). Both squads enter the game unbeaten in GNAC play while the Monks are also a perfect 21-0 on the season. The tip is set for 6:00 PM in Standish, Maine.
