SAINTS WELL REPRESENTED ON 2018-19 GNAC ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE SQUAD

WINTHROP, Mass. – Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Commissioner Joe Walsh is pleased to announce the 2018-19 Academic All-Conference Teams, as 1,030 student-athletes have garnered recognition this year. In order to be eligible, a student must have a 3.25 cumulative grade point average during the academic year and have reached second-year academic status.

His coaching peers describe him as dedicated and inspirational. His players say he is well-respected and loyal. But when longtime Emmanuel College women’s basketball Assistant Coach Arthur Howell was asked how he’d describe himself, he smiled sheepishly and said, “It’s never been about me. It’s always been about the team.”

McLAUGHLIN SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN NEWBA SENIOR ALL-STAR CLASSIC

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Emmanuel College senior guard Madison McLaughlin (Westerly, R.I.) has been selected to participate in the 2019 New England Women’s Basketball Association (NEWBA) Senior All-Star Classic, it was announced by the NEWBA Offices earlier this afternoon.

ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN & ALL-REGION HONORS ROLL IN FOR RAMIREZ-TEJEDA

BOSTON, Mass. – The honors continued to roll in for Emmanuel College guard Yuleska Ramirez-Tejeda (Cambridge, Mass.) as the junior was recognized by D3Hoops.com, NEWBA and CoSIDA for three separate accolades. Ramirez-Tejeda was tabbed a Google Cloud College Sports Information Director’s of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American, earning Second Team honors to become the first Academic All-American in program history.

NCAA SECOND ROUND PREVIEW: SAINTS READY TO FACE SUNY NEW PALTZ

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - The Emmanuel College women's basketball team will face host SUNY New Paltz on Saturday, March 2 in Second Round action of the 2019 NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball tournament at the Hawk Center. The Saints advanced to the round of 32 following a 69-65 victory over Hartwick College while the Hawks preserved their home-court advantage with a 65-36 win over Rutgers-Newark.

THE LEAD: Senior guard Lindsey Bettke (Pelham, N.Y.) and junior guard Marion Dietz (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) combined for 49 points to power #25 SUNY New Paltz past Emmanuel College in Second Round action of the 2019 NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball tournament at the Hawk Center.

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - Emmanuel College erased an early nine point deficit to come back and down Hartwick College, 69-65, Friday evening in the First Round of the 2019 NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball tournament on the campus of SUNY New Paltz.

NCAA FIRST ROUND PREVIEW: EMMANUEL SET TO TAKE ON HARTWICK

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - The Emmanuel College women's basketball team is set to take on Hartwick College in the opening round of the 2019 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament at the Hawk Center on the SUNY New Paltz campus this Friday at 5:30 PM. The Saints bring a 23-5 overall record to the contest while the Hawks don a 23-4 mark heading into the tournament.

RAMIREZ-TEJEDA EARNS SECOND USBWA NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOR

ST. LOUIS (USBWA) – Yuleska Ramirez-Tejeda of Emmanuel College (Boston, Mass.) and Luke Smith of Sewanee: University of the South (Sewanee, Tenn.) were named the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Division III National Players of the Week for the week ending February 24.

WOMEN'S HOOPS LANDS THREE ON GNAC ALL-CONFERENCE SQUAD; WEAVER NAMED DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

BOSTON, Mass. – Junior guards Yuleska Ramirez-Tejeda (Cambridge, Mass.), Kayla Weaver (West Haven, Conn.) and senior guard Madison McLaughlin (Westerly, R.I.) have been selected to the 2018-19 GNAC Women's Basketball All-Conference teams, it was announced Monday morning by the conference office. Ramirez-Tejeda makes her second consecutive appearance on the All-Conference team with First Team honors while Weaver and McLaughlin garner Third Team accolades while Weaver was also voted the 2019 GNAC Defensive Player of the Year.

SAINTS STUN MONKS TO WIN GNAC CHAMPIONSHIP, 65-64; RAMIREZ-TEJEDA SCORES 1,000TH IN WIN

STANDISH, MAINE - Junior guard Yuleska Ramirez-Tejeda (Cambridge, Mass.) scored a game-high 24 points including the 1,000th of her career to propel the Emmanuel College women’s basketball team past No. 8/10 Saint Joseph’s College (ME), 65-64, to capture the 2019 Great Northeast Athletic Conference women’s basketball championship.

WINTHROP, Mass. – The 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, as selected by CoSIDA, were announced on Thursday, as three Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) student-athletes were honored in Emmanuel College junior Yuleska Ramirez-Tejeda and Saint Joseph's College of Maine seniors Darian Berry and Kelsi McNamara.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL WINS IN OT TO ADVANCE TO GNAC CHAMPIONSHIP, 78-72

In a thrilling overtime victory, the Emmanuel College women’s basketball team took down the Albertus Magnus Falcons in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference semifinal game, led by junior Yuleska Ramirez-Tejeda and freshman Riley Lahiff (No. Attleboro, Mass.), on Thursday evening on the Andy Yosinoff Court.
