HIGGINS NAMED GNAC & DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR; Negri, Clay & Davis Earn All-GNAC Honors

BOSTON, Mass. - Emmanuel College senior guard Sarah Higgins (Groveland, Mass.) was selected as the 2016 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, as voted upon by the league’s 12 head coaches. Higgins, a First Team All-Conference selection, averaged 14.5 points and 6.6 rebounds in 26.3 minutes per game for the Saints and led the GNAC with 3.4 steals per game. The Groveland, Mass. native helped guide Emmanuel to a share of the GNAC regular-season title and a runner-up finish in the GNAC title game.

WOMEN'S HOOPS READY FOR SEMIFINAL SHOWDOWN VS. JWU

BOSTON, Mass. – The No. 3 Emmanuel College women’s basketball team heads to Providence, R.I. for a rematch of the 2015 GNAC Championship game this evening against the No. 2 Johnson & Wales University Wildcats in tonight’s GNAC Semifinals. The Saints earned the No. 3 seed in the tournament field after posting a 10-1 mark in GNAC play to share a three-way tie for the top spot in the conference but fell to third due to an overall winning percentage tie-breaker with No.1 Saint Joseph’s (ME) and No. 2 Johnson & Wales.

NEGRI HITS 1K, LEADS SAINTS TO GNAC TITLE GAME

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Emmanuel College (21-6) women's basketball team avenged last year's championship game loss with a 71-61 victory over Johnson & Wales (24-3) in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) semifinals on Thursday night at the Wildcat Center.

BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College women’s basketball team is set to start their 2016 postseason run, opening the Great Northeast Athletic Conference tournament tonight against No. 6 Albertus Magnus College at 7:00 PM in the Jean Yawkey Center. The Saints earned the No. 3 seed in the tournament field after posting a 10-1 mark in GNAC play to share a three-way tie for the top spot in the conference but fell to third due to an overall winning percentage tie-breaker with No.1 Saint Joseph’s (ME) and No. 2 Johnson & Wales.

WOMEN’S HOOPS ADVANCES TO GNAC SEMIFINALS WITH 73-63 WIN OVER ALBERTUS MAGNUS

BOSTON, Mass. – Four players scored in double-figures to lead the No. 3 Emmanuel College women’s basketball team past No. 6 Albertus Magnus College, 73-63, Tuesday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference Quarterfinals action at the Jean Yawkey Center. With the victory, the Saints improve to 20-6 on the year and advance to the GNAC Semifinals while the loss drops the Falcons to 14-12 on the year.

HIGGINS NAMED GNAC WOMEN’S HOOPS PLAYER OF THE WEEK AGAIN

BOSTON, Mass. – Senior guard Sarah Higgins (Groveland, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Monday. The honor marks the second occasion this season Higgins has been honored by the GNAC, also earning Player of the Week honors back on Jan. 18.

SAINTS SINK SIMMONS ON SENIOR DAY

BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College women’s basketball team cruised to a 92-54 victory over Simmons College Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at the Jean Yawkey Center Gymnasium. The Saints improve to 18-6 overall and 9-1 in GNAC play while the loss drops the Sharks to 7-15 and 1-8 in the GNAC.

FOURTH QUARTER RUN POWERS WILDCATS PAST SAINTS

BOSTON, Mass. - The Johnson & Wales women's basketball team outscored Emmanuel 11-1 over the final 4:24 of the fourth quarter to earn a 54-44 victory and hand the Saints their first loss in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) regular season play since February 9, 2010 vs. Emerson.

SLOW START SINKS SAINTS VS. #9 TUFTS, 57-41

MEDFORD, Mass. - Junior Michela North scored a game-high 14 points, including the 1,000th of her Tufts career, as the ninth-ranked Jumbos kept rolling with a 57-41 women's basketball victory over Emmanuel College Tuesday night at Cousens Gym.
