BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's basketball team rebounded from its first loss of the season to take a resounding 73-52 win over Emmanuel on Tuesday evening at Morrell Gymnasium. The No.20-ranked Polar Bears shot 52% from three-point range in the win, as they improved to 12-1 on the year. The Saints fell to 7-5 overall with the loss.

The No.20-ranked Polar Bears shot 52% from three-point range in the win, as they improved to 12-1 on the year. The Saints fell to 7-5 overall with the loss.
Sara Binkhorst went 4-5 from long distance to lead all players with 16 points for Bowdoin. Kirsten Prue (10 points, five assists) and Siena Mitman (10 points) also saw double-figures for the Polar Bears, who had 13 different players score.
Emmanuel was led by 13 points off the bench from Sarah Higgins. Lena Negri was the next-highest scorer for the Saints with nine points, while Vanessa Bramante and Liz Daley chipped in with 7 points apiece in the effort.
Sparked by three-pointers from Binkhorst and Prue, Bowdoin jumped out to an early 8-1 lead and never trailed, quickly pushing the lead to 22-5 following an Emily Campbell lay-in midway through the opening period. The Saints used a late 8-1 surge, capped by a Sarah Schemerhorn three-pointer, to cut the Bowdoin lead to 32-22 at halftime.
Emmanuel still trailed by ten, 46-36, with 12:53 remaining in the second half before a decisive Polar Bear run put the contest out of reach. A 9-0 spurt, highlighted by four points from Shannon Brady, gave Bowdoin a 55-37 lead with under nine minutes to play.
Bowdoin connected on 51% of its shots for the game to 35% for Emmanuel. The teams were called for 45 fouls in the game, with the Saints hitting just 7-20 from the stripe and the Polar Bears going 22-30.
The Polar Bears will open NESCAC play on Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. against Connecticut College. The Saints will open Great Northeast Athletic Conference play against Norwich University Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
