NEGRI EARNS SECOND-STRAIGHT WEEKLY HONOR ROLL NOD
BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College’s Lena Negri (Arlington, Va.) earned a spot on the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll for the second consecutive week. The junior forward is currently leading the Saints in multiple categories, averaging 14.8 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, while shooting nearly 52% from the floor on the season.
BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College's Lena Negri (Arlington, Va.) earned a spot on the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll for the second consecutive week. The junior forward is currently leading the Saints in multiple categories, averaging 14.8 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, while shooting nearly 52% from the floor on the season.
Negri's most recent conference recognition came after she led the Saints to a 63-52 win over the visiting Gulls of Endicott College. In the win, Negri powered the Saints with a double-double effort of 15 points and 11 rebounds. She hit 7 of her 15 attempts from the floor to go along with her 4 assists in 36 minutes of action.
Last week, in Emmanuel's 80-57 routing of Salem State, Negri netted a team-high 16 points, hauled in 6 boards and dished out 4 assists. Earlier in the week, she hit for 12 points, notched 8 rebounds and handed out 3 helpers versus No. 4 ranked Amherst College.
Negri's selection to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll on both December 16 and December 9 represent the sixth and seventh times in her career that she has been honored by the conference. She was previously voted the GNAC Rookie of the Week three times and to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll twice as a freshman.
Negri and the Saints are off to a 6-3 start on the 2013-14 season. The squad is head to Florida over the winter break to play two games in the Key Largo Classic, beginning on January 1, 2014.
