McDonagh Earns GNAC All-Conference Honors for Third Straight Season
BOSTON, Mass. – Senior setter Seamus McDonagh (Long Beach, N.Y.) has been named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men’s Volleyball All-Conference team, in was announced Tuesday afternoon by the conference office. McDonagh lands on the GNAC All-Conference Second Team for the third consecutive season to cap his collegiate career. Classmate John Carroll (Massapequa, N.Y.) was the Emmanuel representative on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship team.

2020 GNAC Men's Volleyball All-Conference Team & Major Awards
McDonagh earns Second Team honors for the third year in a row after helping Emmanuel to an 8-9 record before the season was halted due to the CoVID19 pandemic. The senior setter ranked seventh in the GNAC in assists per set averaging 6.07 helpers but took on a new offensive role this year for the Saints also seeing some time hitting. He was the only player in the GNAC to average over 6.00 assists and 2.00 kills per set and to showcase his versatility, also averaged 1.98 digs per set, the highest average among GNAC setters during the 2020 campaign. He registered seven double-doubles on the year, the most among GNAC players. During the season, McDonagh dished out his 3,000th career assist to become just the third player in program history to reach the milestone.
Over his Emmanuel career, McDonagh appeared in111 career matches to rank eighth all-time while his 374 sets played was good for seventh in EC Men's Volleyball history. He accumulated 3,105 assists to rank third all-time and compiled 566 career digs to rank ninth. McDonagh also cracked the top-10 in career blocks, ranking 10th with 175 total, and was fifth all-time in block assists with 160. He owns the Emmanuel single-season assists record with 1,117 helpers during the 2019 campaign which ranked second in the nation among NCAA D-III Men's Volleyball players.
Emmanuel wrapped the 2020 campaign with an overall record of 8-9 and a 1-2 mark in GNAC play before the season was cancelled. The Saints closed the season strong, winning four straight before the NCAA cancelled all spring championships.
