Senior Spotlight Series - Seamus McDonagh - Men's Volleyball

With the sudden end to the 2020 spring seasons due to the CoVID19 epidemic, the Emmanuel College Athletic Department wanted to take a moment to recognize members of the class of 2020 during the final semester of their senior season at Emmanuel College. The Senior Spotlight Series was a chance for our community as Saints to give each of these individuals the notoriety and recognition they all deserve while getting a little behind the scenes glimpse into their lives outside the uniform.

McDonagh Earns GNAC All-Conference Honors for Third Straight Season

BOSTON, Mass. – Senior setter Seamus McDonagh (Long Beach, N.Y.) has been named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men’s Volleyball All-Conference team, in was announced Tuesday afternoon by the conference office. McDonagh lands on the GNAC All-Conference Second Team for the third consecutive season to cap his collegiate career. Classmate John Carroll (Massapequa, N.Y.) was the Emmanuel representative on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship team.

Emmanuel Follows GNAC Protocol; Cancels Springs Athletic Seasons

BOSTON, Mass.. – Following the NCAA announcement to cancel all remaining winter and spring championships, and recognizing the spread and ongoing threat of COVID-19, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Presidents' Council voted unanimously to make the difficult decision to cancel all spring competition, practices, and championships for the remainder of the 2019-20 academic year.

BOSTON, Mass. – Junior outside hitter Mike Kokoros (Braintree, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday afternoon.

Men's Volleyball Wins Two Over Lesley; 3-0, 3-0

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Emmanuel College men’s volleyball team picked up a pair of 3-0 wins over Lesley University in non-conference action Thursday evening at Medford High School. With the wins, the Saints improve to 8-9 on the year while the Lynx are still in search of a win, dropping to 0-9 overall.

Men’s Volleyball Sweeps Chargers in GNAC Win, 3-0

The Emmanuel College men’s volleyball team picked up their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference victory on Tuesday evening against the Chargers of Colby-Sawyer College. The Saints finished the three-set sweet with a stunning 12 services aces in comparison to none by the Chargers.

Men’s Volleyball Rebounds with 3-0 Win over St. Joseph’s BK

BOSTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel College men's volleyball team split a pair of matches in non-conference action on the Andy Yosinoff Court on Saturday afternoon. The Saints suffered a 3-2 setback to Nichols College to open the day but bounced back with a 3-0 victory over St. Joseph’s College (Brooklyn) in the nightcap.

No. 13 Endicott Drops Men's Volleyball, 3-0

BEVERLY, Mass. – The No. 13 nationally ranked Endicott men's volleyball team defeated Emmanuel, 3-0, by scores of 25-14, 25-10, and 25-19 on Wednesday night at MacDonald Gymnasium.

McDonagh Dishes Out 3,000th Career Assist in Men's Volleyball Action at MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Emmanuel College men's volleyball team settled for a tri-match split on Saturday afternoon at DuPont Gymnasium on the MIT campus. The Saints earned a 3-0 sweep in their opener over Eastern Nazarene College before falling to the host Engineers in the nightcap, 3-0, to finish the afternoon with a 1-1 record. During the second match, EC senior setter Seamus McDonagh (Long Beach, N.Y.) dished out his 3,000th career assist to become just the third player in program history to reach the milestone.

The Raiders of Rivier University came from a first set loss to surge by the Emmanuel College Saints in the next three sets, (26-24, 17-25, 18-25, 12-25), on Thursday evening in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match-up on the Andy Yosinoff Court.

FRANKLIN, Mass. - Seamus McDonagh and Josh McDonald combined for 20 kills and visiting Emmanuel College posted a convincing 3-0 win over Dean College in non-league men’s volleyball action on Saturday morning.

MIT Sweeps Men's Volleyball, 3-0

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Emmanuel College men's volleyball team dropped a non-conference road match to MIT on Thursday evening by a 3-0 final. The Engineers defeated the Saints by scores of 25-16, 25-14, 25-14.

Volleyball Splits Ramapo Tri-Match, Tops SUNY Potsdam, 3-0

THE LEAD: The Emmanuel College men's volleyball team settled for a tri-match split this weekend at Ramapo College in Mahwah, N.J. The Saints picked up a convincing 3-0 victory to start their day with a win over SUNY Potsdam before falling to the host Roadrunners, 3-1, in the nightcap.
