Bio

Dan Roberts joined the Emmanuel College staff during the spring of 2016, becoming just the third-ever Head Coach of the Men's Soccer program. During his first season, he was also promoted to full-time status in the department as the Assistant Sports Information Director/Equipment Manager. On July 1, 2023, Roberts was promoted again to the level of Assistant Athletic Director and currently serves as the Clemente Field Coordinator/Equipment Manager.

In 2022, Roberts mentored the Saints to a 7-5-7 overall mark for the second-highest single-season winning percentage (.553) in program history. The 2022 squad posted a new program-record for goals conceded (17) and their .583 winning percentage during regular-season GNAC action was the best performance in program history. Emmanuel advanced to the GNAC Semifinals for just the second time in program history as the Saints stunned Norwich in a penalty shootout when Roberts called upon first-year keeper Maddox Pierce to come on for the penalties in which he stopped three shots to help the Saints move on.

In his first season at the helm, Roberts led the Saints to an 8-9-2 record while posting a 4-4-1 mark in GNAC play to earn the No. 5 seed in the 2016 GNAC tournament. His squad posted six shutouts to rank second in program history for clean sheets in a single season. In 2017, the squad posted seven ties, a program-record which also led the nation among NCAA Division III programs.

To date, Coach Roberts has coached 13 players to GNAC All-Conference honors at Emmanuel and qualified for GNAC postseason play all six playing seasons since joining the staff. The squad also earned the 2018 GNAC Men's Soccer Team Sportsmanship award.

Roberts brings to Emmanuel a wealth of Division III experience as both a coach and a former student-athlete.  Most recently, Roberts was the Assistant Men's Soccer Coach at University of Massachusetts Boston, where he helped lead the Beacons to a Little East Conference Championship and to an appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2015.  Prior to the 2015 season at UMass Boston, Roberts was the Assistant Coach at COF rival Wentworth Institute of Technology for two years.

As a collegiate player, Roberts was a four-year member and two-time team captain of the Bridgewater State University Men's Soccer Team.  He earned All-MASCAC honors three years in a row and represented the men's soccer team on BSU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for three years.

Roberts also has a great deal of club coaching experience and is currently the Technical Director at Commonwealth FC, the U-17 head coach and in his second year as the Massachusetts 03/04 Assistant Coach for the Olympic Development Program (ODP). He has prior experience with the FC Boston Bolts program, the Training Director for the Commonwealth Football Club and as an Assistant Coach at Canton High School.

Roberts resides in Quincy, Mass.
