EMMANUEL WELL REPRESENTED ON GNAC ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM

WINTHROP, Mass. - A total of 822 student-athletes have been named to the 2014-15 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference Team, as announced by GNAC Commissioner Joe Walsh earlier this week. Emmanuel College was well represented on the list with 109 representatives, a conference-best, making up 13.25% of the GNAC’s Academic All-Conference selections.

2014 MEN’S SOCCER SEASON IN REVIEW

BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College men’s soccer team showed moments of brilliance during the 2014 campaign but was unable to put it all together consistently, finishing the season with a 5-11-2 overall record that included a 4-5 mark in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action. The Saints were able to earn a GNAC playoff berth for the second consecutive season before falling in the Quarterfinals to end the season.

SAINTS HOST BOSTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS SPECIAL OLYMPICS FOR SOCCER CLINIC

BOSTON, Mass. – On Sunday, November 9, the Emmanuel College Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) teamed up with several varsity athletic teams as well as EC Superfans club members to sponsor a morning soccer clinic for members of the Boston Public Schools Special Olympics chapter. The event ran from 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM and featured a great turnout of student-athletes, special Olympians, coaches, spectators and supporters.

FIELD, ALLEN NAMED TO GNAC ALL-CONFERENCE SQUAD

BOSTON, Mass. – Junior midfielder David Field (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) and sophomore back Jeff Allen (South Windsor, Conn.) have been named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer All Conference Team, it was announced by the conference office today. Field makes his second consecutive appearance on the All-Conference team, earning Second Team honors this season while Allen earns Third Team honors for the first time in his collegiate career.

BOSTON, Mass. – Freshman midfielder Cameron Messier (Belchertown, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the conference office earlier today.

MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO THIRD-SEEDED LASERS IN GNAC QUARTERFINALS

NEWTON, Mass. – The sixth-seeded Emmanuel College men’s soccer team dropped a 5-3 decision to the third-seeded Lasers of Lasell College in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon at Taylor Field. Lasell improved to 9-8-1 overall with the win and will now advance to the conference semifinals, while the visiting Saints wrap up their season at 5-10-2 with the loss.

SAINTS DROP 4-0 DECISION TO MIT ON SENIOR DAY

BOSTON, Mass. – The MIT Men’s Soccer team downed Emmanuel College, 4-0, Wednesday evening in non-conference action played at Roberto Clemente Field. With the win, the Engineers improve to 7-5-4 with their regular season finale on Saturday at 1:00 PM vs. WPI. The Saints wrap the regular season with a 5-10-2 mark.

MONKS TOP SAINTS TO EARN GNAC TOURNEY BERTH

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph’s College (5-14-0, 3-6-0 GNAC) blanked Emmanuel College (5-9-2, 4-5-0 GNAC), 2-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men’s soccer match at Westerlea Way Field on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Monks claim the #8 seed in the GNAC Tournament and will play at top-seeded Johnson & Wales University in a conference quarterfinal next Saturday. Emmanuel has secured a playoff berth as the #6 seed and will play at 3rd-seeded Lasell College in quarterfinal action.

CADETS REIGN OVER SAINTS, 6-2, IN MEN'S SOCCER ACTION

BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore forward Alec Brigante (Colchester, Vt.) netted a hat trick to lead the Norwich University men’s soccer team past Emmanuel College, 6-2, Wednesday evening at Roberto Clemente Field. The Cadets improve to 11-4-2 overall on the year and move to 5-1-2 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action. The loss dips the Saints to 5-8-2 and 4-4 in the GNAC.

MEN'S SOCCER DROPS 4-1 DECISION TO CLARK

Worcester, Mass. – Oscar Zapata (Lima, Peru) recorded his third career hat trick, Demetri Boumis (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) added a goal and an assist and host Clark University snapped its brief two-game losing streak with a 4-1 win over Emmanuel College in non-league men’s soccer action on Monday night at a chilly Granger Soccer Turf.

CHARETTE RECEIVES 2ND GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK NOD

BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel’s Garrett Charette (West Springfield, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week for the second time this season. Charette’s most recent conference recognition comes after the senior captain led the Saints to consecutive GNAC shutout victories last week, posting a 1-0 win over Lasell and a 3-0 win at Suffolk.

SAINTS SHUT OUT RAMS, 3-0

SOMERVILLE, Mass. - The Emmanuel College Saints defeated the Suffolk University Men's Soccer team by a 3-0 score on Saturday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Dilboy Stadium in Somerville. Senior James Carroll (Guilford, Conn.) scored a pair of second half goals to lead the Saints, who improve to a 5-6-2 overall record and a 4-3 mark in GNAC play on the year.

MEN’S SOCCER NOTCHES PROGRAM’S FIRST-EVER WIN OVER LASELL

BOSTON, Mass. – Junior forward Stefano Sainato (Albany, N.Y.) scored in the 83rd minute to lift the Emmanuel Men’s Soccer Team to a 1-0 victory over Lasell College on Tuesday night at Roberto Clemente Field. The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) win for the Saints marked the first time Emmanuel has ever beaten Lasell, in the series dating back to 2006.

BARRETT POWERS ALBERTUS MAGNUS PAST MEN'S SOCCER, 3-2

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior midfielder Lindsley Barrett (Shelton, Conn.) recorded a hat trick to lead the Albertus Magnus College men’s soccer team past Emmanuel College, 3-2, Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at Celentano Field. The Saints drop to 3-6-2 overall and 2-3 in the GNAC while the loss lifts the Falcons to 9-3-2 and 3-1-1.

MEN'S SOCCER BATTLES MOUNT IDA IN 1-0 WIN

NEWTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College men's soccer team came out on top of a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tilt on a rainy Alumni Field Saturday night by a final score of 1-0 against the Mustangs of Mount Ida College. With the win, Emmanuel improves to (3-5-2, 2-2 GNAC) while the Mustangs drop to (6-4, 2-2 GNAC).

OFFENSIVE OUTBURST LIFTS EMERSON PAST MEN’S SOCCER, 5-3

BOSTON, Mass. – The Emerson College men’s soccer team exploded for five goals, overpowering Emmanuel College, 5-3, Wednesday evening in non-conference action at Roberto Clemente Field. The Lions entered the match with only five total goals on the year through seven games doubled their season output to improve to 2-4-3 overall while the loss drops the Saints to 2-5-2 on the year.
