CONN COLLEGE STOPS MEN'S LACROSSE, 18-2

NEW LONDON, Conn.—Jordan Foster (Las Vegas, Nev.) exploded with five goals in the opening half of play to lead the Connecticut College men's lacrosse team to an 18-2 victory against Emmanuel College under the lights on the Artificial Turf at Silfen Field Tuesday night.

The Camels improved their record to 5-3 with their second straight win. They've scored 39 goals in their last two contests. The Saints slipped to 1-7 with the setback.

Rookie midfielder Pierce DellaFera (Lattingtown, N.Y.) had a hat-trick with three first half scores for the Camels. P.J. Kelleher (Walpole, Mass.) chipped in with two goals and an assist for the winning side. Chris White (Bronx, N.Y.) scored twice for the hosts. Senior Derek Bertolini (Killingworth, Conn.) continued to provide some sharp passing around the cage, finishing with a goal while assisting on four others in a five-point night for the hosts.

Sophomore specialist Ben Parens (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) was a perfect 9-for-9 at the X and had a goal and six ground balls. Henry DeCamp (Washington, D.C.) was 9-for-13 on face-offs for the Camels.

Senior Bobby Bleistein (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) made two saves in 24:12 of action without surrendering a goal. Connor Poetzinger (Boca Raton, Fla.) made two stops, allowing two goals in 18:29 of action before sophomore Matt Andrews (Smithfield, R.I.) closed out the win with 17:19 of shutout play in the cage, making three stops for the Camels.

Emmanuel College juniors Tony Cibelli (Westboro, Mass.) and Donnie Litzelman (Stratham, N.H.) supplied scores in the loss for the visitors. Senior Justin Kelly (Collegeville, Pa.) had two assists. Sophomore Austin Rosenberg (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) had six saves between the pipes.

Foster opened the scoring for the Camels 3:32 into regulation when he executed with a wraparound move to put the Camels on top for good, 1-0.  With 9:44 to go, DellaFera made it a 2-0 game when he took a feed from Bertolini and buried a one-timer out in front of the goal. Junior Ross Thompson (Mahopac, N.Y.) buried a shot from the top of the box with 7:59 remaining to vault the Camels out to a 3-0 advantage. Then, DellaFera took a feed from Tompkins and put in his second goal of the quarter with 7:34 remaining.

On the ensuing face-off, Parens won the face-off, collected the ground ball and rifled one home in a full sprint to put the Camels in complete control with a 5-0 advantage. Foster scored the final two goals of the quarter and the Camels were in complete control with a 7-0 advantage after one quarter of action.

The Camels continued to pull away, scoring the first seven goals of the second quarter. Bertolini assisted DellaFera for his third goal of the half with 5:32 remaining to cap the 14-0 run.

The Saints scored the next two goals but White added a pair of insurance markers in the third and the hosts tacked on two more goals in the fourth quarter to close out the 18-2 win.

The Camels enjoyed a 47-17 advantage in ground balls and piled up 44 shots in the offensive uprising while limiting the visitors to 17 shots in the contest.

Connecticut College was 2-for-3 in extra man situations while the Saints finished 0-for-2, with both opportunities occurring in the third quarter.
