BOSTON, Mass. – The 2018-19 D3Hoops.com All-Region teams have been announced and Emmanuel College Head Men's Basketball Coach Danny Lawson has been tabbed the D3Hoops.com Northeast Region Men's Basketball Coach of the Year, as reported on D3Hoops.com.
It's the 18th season D3hoops.com has named All-Region teams. The regional Rookie of the Year award honors the top freshman in each region, while D3hoops.com also names a regional Coach of the Year.
In his first season with the Saints, Lawson did a remarkable job leading the team to an 18-8 record to show an overall improvement of 14.5 games from the previous campaign. The 18 totals wins is the second-highest single-season total in program history and the Saints earned the right to host a GNAC playoff game for the first time in 10 seasons, picking up the win to advance to the GNAC Semifinals.
"We're very proud of all that Coach Lawson accomplished in his first year with the program," said Dan Campagna, Emmanuel College Assistant Director of Athletics. "His work ethic on and off the court permeated over to his entire team, making their buy-in from the beginning fun to watch."
Prior to Emmanuel, Lawson had coaching stops at Endicott, Duquesne, LIU Brooklyn and Le Moyne as well as a position with the Boston Celtics during their 2008 NBA Championship campaign.

The other two representatives from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference on the Northeast All-Region team were GNAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year Brian Hogan-Gary from Johnson & Wales University who earned All-Region Third Team honors and Delshawn Jackson Jr. from the University of Saint Joseph (CT) who was tabbed the Northeast Region Rookie of the Year.
Players were nominated for these awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools, who were contacted multiple times as the season wound down to remind them to make their players eligible. There were 716 players nominated nationwide. The ballot was then made available to SIDs, who voted for a predetermined number of players in their region.
Regions that have fewer than 40 Division III teams have two teams. The Northeast, which is nearly twice that size, has four teams, while all other regions have three teams.
