Cross Country Teams Earn USTFCCCA Academic Honors
NEW ORLEANS, La. – The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced its 2019 National Academic Awards. Emmanuel College has been recognized on both the Men's & Women's Cross Country Team list.
NEW ORLEANS, La. – The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced its 2019 National Academic Awards. Emmanuel College has been recognized on both the Men's & Women's Cross Country Team list.
The women's squad posted an overall GPA of 3.42 during their season last fall while the men finished with a 3.36 team GPA. For a team to be eligible for the Team Academic Award, it must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional meet and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale. Overall this year, 384 teams were honored by the USTFCCCA, including 212 women's and 172 men's teams.
Pomona-Pitzer was named the NCAA Division III Cross Country Men's Scholar Team of the Year. The Sagehens won their first national title in program history this past November at the 2019 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships in Louisville, Kentucky.
Johns Hopkins was named the NCAA Division III Cross Country Women's Scholar Team of the Year for the sixth time in the past eight years. The Blue Jays flew to yet another national title this past November at the 2019 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships in Louisville, Kentucky. Johns Hopkins has now won six national titles, tying it with Middlebury for the second most in NCAA DIII history.
