JOURNEAY, HALLORAN & FITZPATRICK EARN GNAC WEEKLY HONORS
BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Katharine Journeay (Hampton, N.H.), freshman Daniel Halloran (Lawrence, Mass.), and freshman Hannah Fitzpatrick (Revere, Mass.) have each been recognized by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference in their respective sport’s Weekly Reports. Fitzpatrick has been named the GNAC Women’s Cross Country Rookie of the Week while Halloran earns the GNAC Men’s Golf Rookie of the Week honors. Journeay has been tabbed the GNAC Women’s Volleyball Libero of the Week, it was announced by the conference office earlier today.
BOSTON, Mass. – Freshman Hannah Fitzpatrick (Revere, Mass.), freshman Daniel Halloran (Lawrence, Mass.) and senior Katharine Journeay (Hampton, N.H.) have each been recognized by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference in their respective sport's Weekly Reports. Fitzpatrick has been named the GNAC Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week while Halloran earns the GNAC Men's Golf Rookie of the Week honors. Journeay has been tabbed the GNAC Women's Volleyball Libero of the Week, it was announced by the conference office earlier today.
Fitzpatrick earns Rookie of the Week honors following a solid collegiate debut at the Endicott Invitational where she finished fifth overall with a time of 20:20 in the 5K race. She helped the Saints post a third place team finish in the event.
Halloran made his collegiate debut by shooting the low round for Emmanuel at the John Queenan Memorial hosted by Saint Joseph's of Maine. The rookie carded a 96 in his first collegiate match to finish 36th overall.
Journeay lifted the Saints to a 2-0 start in GNAC play averaging 5.29 digs per set in wins over Albertus Magnus and Norwich. On the week she finished with 53 digs posting double digit totals of 16, 16 and 21 digs.
GNAC WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Women's Soccer
Natalie Dash (East Hampton, Conn.) - Dash led Emmanuel to a perfect 3-0 week, scoring a goal in every game to accumulate six points on the frame. The junior buried the game-winner in a 5-0 win over Dean and added scores over Wentworth and Castleton State to help EC open the season with a 3-1 mark, the program's best start since 2011.
Lexi Gawron (South Hadley, Mass.) - Posted a 3-0 record on the week for the Saints making nine saves over 225 minutes of action. The junior split time in a 5-0 shutout win over Dean and ended the week with a .750 save percentage to help EC get off to its best start since 2011 at 3-1 on the year.
Men's Cross Country
Erik Brobst (Freeport, Maine) - Brobst helped power the Saints team to a second place team finish at the Endicott Invitational with a second place individual finish in the 8k race with a time of 29:15, just 15 seconds off the winning pace.
Women's Volleyball
Marissa Cataldo (Melrose, Mass.) - Cataldo powered the Saints to a 2-0 start in GNAC action with strong play on both sides of the net averaging 3.18 kills per set in the frame as well as 3.43 digs per set in GNAC action. She added three aces for Emmanuel.
