SAINTS SLIDE OUT OF 1st WITH 3-0 LOSS TO JWU

BOSTON, Mass. - The Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University took sole command of first place in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference standings, after a 3-0 sweep of the host Emmanuel Saints on Tuesday night. The Wildcats improved to 20-11 overall and 7-0 in GNAC play after a straight-set win (25-19, 25-23, 25-17) over the host Saints. With the loss, Emmanuel falls to 11-12 on the season and 7-2 in the conference.
Emmanuel's senior co-captains led the effort for the Saints. Lindsey Parker (New Bedford, MA) notched 9 kills, while Amanda Machado (Swansea, MA) tallied 23 digs in the effort. Junior opposite Diana Grimaldi (Sandy Hook, CT) added 4 kills and 5 digs and freshman hitter Jenna Ross (Centerburg, OH) chipped in with 4 kills and 19 digs. Freshman setter Kathryn Olsen (Fairhaven, MA), who was recently named the GNAC Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week, dished out 21 helpers for Emmanuel.
The Saints will travel to Danbury, CT this weekend to play in the Colonial Classic Tournament, hosted by Western Connecticut State University. The Saints will open the tournament, taking on Babson College on Friday night (10/24) at 7:30pm.
